Chevrolet turns 100 years old
« on: November 03, 2011, 03:04:22 AM »

I've had more than a few myself 8) 8) 8)

Some people love 'em...   some people hate 'em...   and some people love to hate 'em :) :) :)

Here's their story direct from the Chevrolet website:

http://www.chevrolet.com/culture/article/chevrolet-centennial/

One of the very first TV ads I personally remember:

HD Dinah Shore "See the U.S.A. in Your Chevrolet" from "Dinah Shore Chevy Show" (1956-1963)

If you were around in the '60s (or enjoy music from the era) then you have to remember:

409 - Beach Boys

The very first "brand new" vehicle we ever bought was a 1974 Chevy S-10 flareside in robins egg blue.

If you have a favorite Chevrolet story please share it ;) ;) ;)

Personally, I prefer Ford.   ;D

But I do remember my dad had a Chevy Scottsdale pickup, back in the early 80's.  VERY nice truck.  And by nice, I mean it rode well, and was reliable, and rugged.  I don't ever remember it being in the shop with any kind of problem.

I had a lot of good times in that truck.   ;)

Happy Birthday, Chevrolet!

When I was a little boy, my mother spoke of a prophecy, of a time when all the world would be covered in darkness and the fate of all of mankind would be decided. One night I finally got the courage to ask my mother why God had changed, why He was so angry with His children. “I don’t know,” she said as she tucked the covers around me. “I guess He just got tired of all the bullshlt.”

Happy Birthday, Chevrolet!

Our last few vehicles have all been Fords...   no particular reason really.  The only problem I ever had with Chevys was rust...  and Ford and Mopar had pretty much the same issues.  We've had Mopar vehicles too.

Our son drives a Chevy and he's pushing over 200,000 miles on it...   but it sounds like he'll replace it with a Ford too.

Interesting how we remember some of those "good times" in Dad's vehicles 8) 8) 8)

Thanks Brian. It was always my favorite growing up and when I was in high school, I graduated in 1982. I was a "shop rat" in h.s. and all of guys had their own favorites. For the past several years I would go to car shows and just drool over the Chevelles. I just got mine recently though, had to take of family obligations before I could get a "toy".
