Reminds me of when we stopped in Montgomery, AL on our way to FL for spring break once.  Waffle House was the first business on the north side of the exit.... on BOTH SIDES of the expressway!
They're like that all over AL and GA! Extremely popular with locals and travelers alike. I've waited, no kidding, an hour for a table on Sunday mornings.

And hey, they've got some pretty good coffee, too, when it's fresh and you're not afraid to drink from the mug! lol I'd love to get an "Awful House" here. Mmmm, pecan waffles......

I haven't heard of this place.  I'll have to check it out.  I do miss Rendezvous Cafe.  That place was really nice.

Oh, be sure to go.  It's a very nice little shoppe.  They have a fantastic choice of teas.  And, the windows make it very open and bright.  It's a nice place!

Would be nice, but Carter supplies a lot of materials outside Monroe too--north and south.

I wonder if Starbucks would follow the Monroe tradition of building a smaller stripped-down version.

It would be nice to shop locally rather than having to travel to find the regular sized businesses.

Although I'm not sure the area will support a Starbucks long term.

Starbucks in Monroe?   I’d love to see it, but can’t imagine anyone would think it could make it here.

Maybe it will be going into the mall along with Nieman Marcus, Barney’s New York and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse?  By the expressway near the Ritz Carlton?  On M-125 near the Ferrari dealership?

I would rather see Big Beans, I mean Big B's, back in Monroe.

One of the coffee chains I could never understand was Caribou Coffee. Talk about burnt tasting! Like it was charbroiled! Gave me an instant belly ache the handful of times I tried them. I still see them in malls and airports, but have no idea why. I guess there's a portion of people who enjoy a hot cup of bitter acid.  :P

I can't see them thriving.  Near I-75, you get some tourists, but not enuff to keep it open.  Inside of town, say near Lowe's, not enuff to keep it open.  West side of county, near Cabela's, not enuff to keep it open.  South end, Stearns and Secor; not enuff to keep it open.

The atmosphere at Starbucks is quite nice, wi-fi, nice furniture and good music. Everyone said that Tim Horton's wouldn't make it either and both of them are thriving.  I find it strange that if Starbucks were building North or South of Monroe that their plans are at Carter's in Monroe and not at a downriver Carter's or a Toledo Carter's.  Just saying.

Depending on what they're doing with the plans (lumber, plumbing, electrical or all of it) a particular contractor who may be from Monroe might be having them quote the materials for the job.  Wouldn't matter to them "where" the job was.

I think its a good sign of the Economy that Star bucks is expanding wherever it may be...   I do like their Frappacino's..   but they make me REALLY FAT.. and since I do have a anxiety disorder, I can barely stand a weak cup of tea...  But when I am really in a depression or fatigue.. all I know is I can sleep forever...  I find that Starbucks is like mainlining speed and I can stay up forever!..

I did read an article about various chain coffee and coffee that you make yourself... SB has on average 30% more caffeine per serving than regular coffee...

So I get a Venti Carmal Frap.. with an extra shot of espresso.. I really fly!...

I would like to check out the local coffee house..  I hope this one doesn't have the freaks with bull horns hanging about...

That's funny!  But I understand.    No, Starbucks is not for the faint of heart OR those with an uncontrollable sweet tooth.   It's definitely the Crack of the coffee world.   ;D

I also like the atmosphere in their stores.  It's different.  Not better or worse. Just different and I like it a lot.

The world is a big place and there's room for everyone.  And, I may be starry eyed with a biased optimism, but I think Monroe will support a Starbucks with no problem, ESPECIALLY a drive thru.  Place it on a main path to I-75 or 223 and it'll be a winner!

I'm thinking Lambertville might be a possibility for a store in the county...

the Kroger store down there is putting on a huge addition in the area where the old feed store is currently located...   and they're adding another AutoZone store in the same mall right across the street from the O'Reiley's that opened just a year or so ago...  and these are only a couple of miles from Alexis Rd. in Toledo...

Anyway, at one time it was common to see Starbucks go into the newer Kroger stores but they seem to have stopped doing that.

According to the article from The Blade the Lambertville Kroger will have a bistro area inside the store:  http://www.toledoblade.com/Retail/2012/01/24/Kroger-to-double-size-of-Bedford-Twp-store.html

So I'm thinking maybe a free standing store somewhere on that same corner 8* 8* 8*
