"Question more."

What that means is that audiences should critically think of what is being fed to viewers by the mainstream media. We like to provide a different angle to news stories and cover certain topics that are taboo to other media outlets.

A new Gallup poll has been released that asks Americans if they trust TV news. Cenk Uygur breaks down the results of the poll, including whether Democrats or Republicans trust TV news more. Does this poll explain the recent drop in ratings among all cable news providers. Do you trust TV news? Do you watch news on television?

Just read that MSNBC dissolved and is now being called NBC News...

Interesting point in the ending of the joint venture was that MSNBC was considered a shill for the Democratic party (Nahhh   Really?  ;D   )
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Excerpts:
REDMOND, Wash. — NBC News has acquired full control of msnbc.com and its digital network from Microsoft Corp. and is immediately rebranding the site as NBCNews.com

The deal ends 16 years of a 50-50 joint venture between Microsoft and NBCUniversal, which is now majority-owned by Comcast Corp. The arrangement married NBC News' exclusive news and video content with Microsoft's technological expertise...

and...
In recent years, MSNBC TV has shifted toward political commentary favorable to Democratic and liberal causes, creating a potential clash between that mission and the website's goal of producing a nonpartisan news report.
"No one will dispute that we have a bit of a brand confusion right now with cable as a commentary product and msnbc.com as a comprehensive news site," Sizemore said.
As early as spring 2010, company executives were exploring changing the site's name to avoid the brand confusion. "Both strategies are fine, but naming them the same thing is brand insanity," Tillinghast wrote in a confidential memo that was leaked to The New York Times.

Microsoft, in particular, had grown frustrated by contract terms requiring it to exclusively feature MSNBC.com content on its own websites. That exasperation was exacerbated by the MSNBC cable channel's strategy to counter Fox News Channel's appeal to conservative viewers by tailoring its programming for an audience with a liberal viewpoint.

The strategy fed a perception that material from MSNBC's website was politically slanted, too.

Countering the Faux News Channel is certainly welcome in my book....especially considering the obvious right-wing self-serving tilt of practically all of the media sources.

Didn't help them in ratings...

I'm guessing that they will change the theme to the all Maddow all the time channel as she was the only person who came remotely close, and gave them a boost in ratings...

Will be hard to keep her if they are trying to become a Neutral News channel as they claimed that was the new direction they are looking at...

Are you talking about Microsoft?
My take on MSNBC is that nothing is going to change except the name.
As long as FAUX News is allowed to continue, a network that offers a counterpoint should be allowed.
Whether or not you adopt an anti-business posture remains to be seen.

And it appears your by-the-numbers comparison is a bit premature....

The station’s Web site will now be known as NBCNews.com, and the whole channel will have a “new digital home” next year.

YouTube a main source of news: YouTube is emerging as a main source of news for many across the world, The Washington Post reported. A study conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism has found that the site allows millions to watch news events by “creating their own ‘on demand’ news agenda,” The Post reported.

The study found that most viewers did not replace other news outlets with YouTube, but used the videos to supplement their normal habits.

I was referring to the the NBCnews name and the articles claim of the direction they wanted to go.   We all know they can't with their current lineup - so it appears the cosmetic name change was only to allow Microsoft to divest itself, and comcast to take a greater role.

"We"??
What is it "they" can't do?
Who are "they"?
Appears to me that it's MS that doesn't care for the MSNBC strategy.
And I feel MS is making a mistake....the MSNBC strategy is great!

We (The educated collective)  ;D
They (NBC) can't provide neutral bias in their reporting if they keep the same lineup -

Their own admittance - not just my words   ;)

I'll help you "remember"...

I see your point that MS wishes to distance itself from the Democrat/Liberal skewed lineup...   now it will just be NBC/Comcast's views - holding a Bias.

I didn't see where that "admittance" came from NBC.
They have a terrific cast...and a fantastic format...they'll survive and prosper.

I agree they will survive - the article I referenced said they were the most profitable network/web combination.

but as the topic here was Media Bias...  it's plain to see where their Bias is - as admitted by "Sizemore" in the same article.   She is Identified as: NBC's   Today.com VP and Editor-in-Chief..

The TODAY show believes that (TODAY.com) is its website and promotes it that way, markets it that way and participates with it that way," said Jennifer Sizemore, vice president and editor-in-chief of the digital network.

I still don't see an admission of bias in the quotes you've presented.
Really doesn't matter though....my earlier post said it was the strategy of MSNBC to counter Fox News....and Fox has the most biased news of them all.

Here's something I mentioned earlier:

The Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism released a study Monday showing that news consumers are increasingly trading traditional media for YouTube.
