LOL...as if the R's were the only ones involved in the effort...or that the D's wouldn't have tried.  8*
Let's call it what it is....corporate welfare.
And now look....it appears the company was bluffing:

Ohio officials: La-Z-Boy hasn't talked to us
Local development agency says it wasn't contacted on HQ plans
http://www.toledoblade.com/business/2012/08/18/Ohio-La-Z-Boy-hasn-t-talked-to-us.html
So no credit to Snyder or Richardville, who would have guessed you would have not given credit to them. You truly think this was done in spite of the Republicans.

The ones in that article appear to be, for the most part, low level officials who would not have a huge discussion in whether a public company would move there or not, nice try deflecting a positive for the community.

I'd like to see more detail and understand behind the scenes as to exactly what Richardsville contributed.

If he had a part of it, well I'll be GD that he does remember his district....with the exception of beauty salon locations.

Unless it furthers his career to continue to suck of the government tit for a living, then I doubt he had a "monstrously huge " role.

An area near Toledo apparently was being offered as an alternative and the company was researching the financial feasibility of such a move. But Monroe has been home to La-Z-Boy for 85 years. And while he professed his dedication to the community, Kurt L. Darrow, chairman, president and chief executive officer of La-Z-Boy, said all aspects of creating a new headquarters had to be examined.

An unsubstantiated claim.
It's not difficult to understand that they had to say that to obtain their share of corporate welfare.

...rezoning must be approved, meetings are to be held and the state of Michigan must keep its promise regarding incentives and grants. Nothing has been finalized and local governments must work together to make the project a reality. Dan Swallow, Monroe’s director of community and economic development, said Ohio was offering substantial tax incentives in an attempt to lure the company and its 500 employees south. But the fact that most of the employees live in Monroe and the surrounding area and forcing them to travel further to work was a factor in the decision.

They're bluffing and holding out both hands to grab what they can...but I can't blame 'em...it's business.

It's interesting how low you partisans will go to follow the party line such as your c/p remark that lacked originality.

Pop your head anywhere near me and watch the copy paste fly...yeah that's right....I've got some copy/paste for you.

You'd better stock up at your local testicle festival before your something leaves your mouth that you can't back up.

Wow...not sure where that internet tough guy act came from.

That does not show they were not looking into moving, your earlier link has quotes from low level people who would most likely not be involved in such a huge decision. Now if it were from the mayor of Toledo or the governor that would be a different story. I would be willing to bet that La-Z-Boy had internal discussions about where to move the HQ, and you can even see Ohio was offering huge incentives, amazing for a company that did not even look into Ohio though.

Why is it so difficult for you to give credit to the Republicans this one time? Would it really pain you that much?

You know, I know, and this whole forum knows if they did move their HQ to Toledo you would be blaming Snyder and the Republicans 100% and  no blame to the Democrats.

Who are you talking about? And why would you assume that they would not be involved in such a "huge decision"? Do you have any factual information to back that up, or is this all supposition?

Why?

Why don't you give any credit to Mr. McDevitt? Is it because he's a Democrat? Would it really pain you that much?

What a bunch of partisan bull crap.

Mr McDevitt deserves credit as well, I have given the Democrats before, and will continue to as well when they do good stuff. I am not the one who refuses to give credit where credit is due, I do not let the political parties blind me like other allow them to. Everyone who was involved in this did a great job, regardless of political party. Losing La-Z-Boy would have been a horrible scenario, so keeping them was great news.

The mayor and governor would have much more information about a public company moving to Ohio rather than Laura Jones.

Is there any evidence to prove that they were not, at the very least internally, looking at a move to Ohio? It would not make sense for them to not look at Ohio.

Monroe has been home to La-Z-Boy for 85 years and the president/chief executive officer of La-Z-Boy has lived in Monroe 40 years.

Plus most of the 500 employees live in Monroe and the surrounding area.
