Fino's
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:24:02 AM »

Has anyone else been to Fino's recently?  We used to go on a semi-regular basis, but lately the food has been going down hill.  We went last week, and I had a breakfast for dinner  (I know sounds silly)  The has browns were burnt on the outside, and raw on the inside.  The sausage was burnt to a crisp, so could not be eaten.  When I went to check out and was asked how everything was, I told them about my meal, and it was taken off the bill  That was very nice of them.  I asked about new cooks or new owners, and was told newer cooks, and owner has been spending all him time opening a new Coney Island on Alexis at Telegraph in an old Wendy's  I told them he needs to spend more time worrying about the quality of food her too.  Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience.  If not, great  Will try it again sometime soon just to see.

The last time we were in there (probably a couple of months ago) our meal was good...  but we were there for dinner and had one of the specials.  I like breakfast for dinner sometimes too...   especially if my days and nights are in reverse!!!

Some cooks just can't handle breakfast...   and maybe the hash browns were "left over" from breakfast so they would be really, really well done (burnt) by dinner time.  But I see it myself in many businesses how they thrive and grow and everything is great while the owner is there hovering to make sure everything is perfect.  Then, for whatever reason when it becomes and absentee owner the service and product both tend to decline.  You just can't pay somebody enough to make them act like their name is over the door ;) ;) ;)

Fino's is our favorite place for breakfast. Sometimes after we drop the kids off at school, H and I will head over there. He loves the Hungry Man's breakfast. I like their grits, even though they serve a ginormous portion! Food's always good, coffee is good, service is friendly. The one thing I'll say is that they changed their bacon about a year or so ago. It used to be thick, now it's thin. I don't like that, but I usually only eat one piece anyhow.

I've been there a few times for lunch. It was always good.
I hope it isn't going down hill.

Haven't been in there in awhile but it's always been decent when we went. I thought the downtown Big Boy had a patent on burnt on the outside yet still frozen hash browns.

I took Mom & Dad to Fino's today. Food was good, service was great. I love it when a cute blonde waitress calls me "Honey".

$7 for a marinated chicken breast (it comes marinated frozen) and a bun that is stale?  that is not a sandwich.    Sure you can get breakfast for $3 a person but ask yourself what you are getting?  I bet not a good deal.
They do have good broasted chicken, way better than Bobby's Kitchen.  Fino's pieces are about twice the size for the same price. Their sides are canned vegetables and store bought, gross dinner rolls.  At both places this is the case.
We do just the chicken on take-out and do our own sides.  Much higher quality, even if you served Kraft MacNCheese.

We gave them up a few years ago. Went 3 times and wasn't happy each time...three strikes your out.

We still like Benny's. Nice little family restaurant, with nice people, good food and good prices.

You know the one thing about Benny's is they always have outstanding service.  Some of their food is standard "Monroe" but they always have really good service.  We rarely go that way to eat but I should go there a little more often.

I meet the retired people from work there every month for breakfast :) Benny's does not mind if there are 8, 12 or 16 of us. Always great service.

We went to Fino's for brunch the day we got married. My dear sister and brother in law treated us and the kids as a small wedding gift. As usual, food and service were great. I really like their skillet breakfast, but man--it's just enormous! Enjoyed it for lunch again the next day.

Their breakfasts are good. Always check the "Specials" board.

I had Fino's for breakfast last Monday morning.  It was good.  Nothing special.  Just good.
