The Kent State Shootings (1970)
« on: May 04, 2012, 12:28:05 PM »

In 1970, the US was in the midst of the Vietnam War, and antiwar demonstrations among students were common When students at Ohio's Kent State University decided to protest the incursion of US forces into Cambodia, no one imagined it would end in tragedy. But National Guard troops called in to disperse the crowd opened fire, killing four and wounding nine others. The shooting sparked nationwide outrage and became a rallying point for antiwar activists.

WOW....no comment!

That single event turned most every teenager I knew to have a total dislike and distrust for our government and leadership at that time.  I know I never trusted them again.

That's not even remotely funny...If that's even what you're going for...

There is no call for that kind of comment...how dare you!

Obviously he is a psychologically maladjusted individual that feeds off people hating him.  Experience has shown that people like that respond to noting other than being ignored, which is horrifying to them.  They want the hate to validate that they are not as low as they feel that they are.  Feel sorry for him, he is pathetic.  Wen he crows that suicide is for cowards, he knows first hand, which is probably the only thing keeping him from it.

Ignore him and he will seeth and lash out far worse.

While I haven't agreed with anything BM has said on any of the topics I've read....please refrain from making personal attacks.

Should have shot more.

Why do you feel that way?

Let's try to get this thread back onto the topic Baggins originally posted...

For the younger members that may not be familiar with the Kent State Massacre (there's more to it than a few lines in a history book) or for those older minds that might have gotten a bit fuzzy:

Incorrect, their parents were paying good money for those kids to be in class and not raising heck on something they did not understand.

I'd have given them 5 minutes to get back to class or wherever, then they could have figured out the physics of outrunning a bullet.
