Does anyone know of a mechanic that can work on a 1980 gas Mercedes? I am looking for maybe a local Mercedes club or a retired Mercedes mechanic or perhaps a Mercedes dealer mechanic that does work on the side.
The car isn't worth much but taking it to the dealer just doesn't seem like it would be a wise financial move unless I had deep pockets.

Call Randy at Import Auto on N. Dixie (across from the recycling place.) He is a whiz with the foreign cars and I think he actually drove an older Mercedes himself at one point.  I almost always drive European cars and trust him with them as soon as the warranty expires. He is honest and very reasonable.

Thanks I will call him in the morning. My daughter was tooling along this afternoon when the accelerator went to the floor. I rigged it so I could get it home but I need to remove those vice grips and replace them with something a little more conventional.
