If you need an officiant, I know someone who will do it for free and write a customized ceremony.  Send me a message if you're interested.  He's don two weddings already, and is doing a third this summer.  He can provide you with the ceremony scripts he wrote for the two weddings if you would like.  Everyone who has had him perform their ceremony has been extremely pleased.  And yes guys, I'm talking about Shaggy.  That's not his real name of course..

The Loranger Square Pavilion is frequently used as a wedding site. The reservation fee is $50.

The River Raisin Banquet Center is open in the former Masonic Hall on Monroe Street. It has been remodeled and is being operated/catered by Chef Julie Wilson from the Monroe Street Grill. There was a wedding there last weekend and Mayor Bob Clark married the happy couple. They have a Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/River-Raisin-Banquet-Center/290308084368938

That would be a neat place to hold a wedding ceremony in my opinion....the cost is surely right.

I know,,,,,here we go with the "not enough parking" debate!

Combined with the Masonic Lodge building, a nice little downtown Monroe wedding theme would be kinda neat.

So far this year I've shot a wedding at Loranger Square, and also one at St. Mary's park. Both turned out wonderfully, and the city provides some lovely backdrops (well, minus the construction mess on the other side of the river from St. Mary's).

LF....you have done a great job in posting some pics that display the natural beauty of the Monroe area.  I really think that most life-long residents here do not appreciate just how scenic this little area is.

Loranger Square and St. Mary's Park are gems.....IMHO.

They are, and they lend themselves well to portraits and weddings in general. There's a lot of diverse backdrops that can move from historic to modern to moody to bright and cheery in a matter of feet.

Whenever I get time and haven't picked up my camera in a while (not often anymore), I like to go downtown to "warm up", and try to take different pictures and types of photos from within downtown. Sure it's a small place and not very busy, but there's a lot of beautiful potential there still.

My wife called to get some information on the River Raisin Banquet Center as son is getting married.  Let message on answering machine, and no one returned a call.  Future daughter in law sent e-mail for info, with nothing in return.  Must not be open or too busy to talk to prospective customers!

Call either Monroe Street Grill at 241-1112 or the dedicated cell number for the hall is 734-709-9687. I just got off the phone with Jennifer to be sure this was an accurate number, so you may wish to call her at one of those numbers.
It may be a good contact for your wife's business as well.
