Culturally Latinos are very much against homosexuality.  That said Latinos are also very good at realizing their faith and values are crucial at running their own households on their terms, and that these social matters have very little to do with running an entire nation.

While they may abhore the decision on a personal level, I highly doubt this would change many Latino votes... election wise they worry about the same things as everyone else... jobs, crime, etc.
Interesting J...  Where did you get that?  Not picking on, just want more info.

Our family has several Latino friends, and my wife knows a thing or two about Latino culture, she has experienced it first hand by living within it, studied it as her major at the U, and teaches the language daily.  It is an exciting, vibrant, colorful, engaging culture, that is also very religous and full of machismo.

This is a base turnout election. If more Democrats turn out for Obama than Republicans turn out for Romney, I think Obama wins. Vice versa, Romney wins. Right now I think that Dems like their guy more than Republicans.

I agree with you Mike. Also, I think the Republicans are worried that the Democrats will garner more votes with Obama's support of gay marriage than they will being against it.

Nope.

A New York Times/CBS News poll released Monday night shows the possible political perils of President Obama's recent announcement that he supports same-sex marriage.

Most of those polled say the president's position will not impact how they vote. But among those who say it will influence their choice, 26 percent said they are less likely to vote for Obama as a result, while 16 percent say they are more likely to.

And in what is expected to be a tight race, "even a small shift in swing states could be costly," says the Times.

Also troubling for the president is that a majority of voters suspect that his decision was politically motivated.

??

Just pointing out that your, ehrm, "thinking" of worried R's is inaccurate as backed up by polls such as this one.  Not sure what that has to do with imaginary elections.

I like how some say this will cost him votes and others say that he did it to get votes, especially when they turn out to be the same person.

(Not anyone here, but on my facebook).

So my "thinking" is flawed when compared to a poll of what others "think" in a poll? Okay, got it.

Not flawed, just one one side of an opinion.  And yes, that is the point of a representative sample, it carries more weight than an individual.

Via The Raw Story: "The Log Cabin Republicans, a group dedicated to representing LGBT Republicans, on Wednesday derided President Barack Obama's endorsement of same sex marriage. "That the president has chosen today, when LGBT Americans are mourning the passage of Amendment One, to finally speak up for marriage equality is offensive and callous," said R. Clarke Cooper, Log Cabin Republicans Executive Director. The President's announcement came just a day after voters in North Carolina passed an amendment to the state constitution that defines marriage as a union solely between one man and one woman...".

Log Cabin Republicans Rip Obama Over Gay Marriage

Via Politico: "President Barack Obama's endorsement last week of gay marriage appears to have boosted black North Carolinians' support for the issue, according to a poll released Thursday.
A Public Policy Polling survey found that 27 percent of black voters believe same-sex marriage should be legal, up from 20 percent in a poll conducted on May 6, three days before Obama announced his support. And 59 percent say they are opposed to gay marriage, down from 63 percent in the previous poll, which was taken before the North Carolina primary...".

Has the GOP decided that gay marriage is a losing issue for them based on new polls after President Obama publicly declared his support for it?
