People might laugh but since the people with money wouldn't help the underprivileged for the last 50 years Obama is attempting to take the money away from the rich and put them in the same class as the unfortunate. He will achieve racial equality.

Rob Peter to pay Paul. Then Paul will vote for you. And we're seeing more and more Pauls come on line every day. Obama believes that is success. Make sure the government can continue to fund the growing number of Pauls and it doesn't matter if he has to squeeze it out of the wealthy, borrow it or print it. Vote for me.

THL:
Why all the personal vitriol? Can't come up with reasonable arguments? As
to my finances I'm not wealthy, but I'm quite comfortable and no where near broke. Beyond that I don't have anything further to say to you. You are a hater filled with
greed and envy and it clearly serves no purpose trying to have a civil exchange with you.

It will be interesting to see what "promises" are going to be made during the campaign this time...

Thing is I don't know what their agenda is. They seem to have so many. Polls tell us the basics for the folks are they crave secure jobs, affordable health care, someone else to take care of their underwater house problem, secure entitlements and solve the deficit and debt problems. Dems say, "got you covered". Relax. We'll raise taxes on the rich.

Well huggy, i'm not in the 1% but i have enough money I don't need the government and I don't want them taking the money I earned and saved. I have investments and a 401 that I don't want the government taking away from me.  I worked for the money over 40 years.  Why should I now have to give it to someone that doesn't want to work?

The Party answer is:  because you can pay - you should...
how else do you think they can keep paying for votes with free stuff?

Well, there certainly is no shortage of right wing ranting in this topic.  Hey, since all you care about is intentional assignation, why not say that Democrats kill babies too?  All of the above is just talking head sputtering from the right wing echo machine that bears no likeness to reality.

I have no great love for the Democratic Party which is exactly what I grew up knowing as the Republican Party and the Republican’s now?  I think maybe they claims they make of a flat earth might be correct and they went so far to the right that they fell off the Earth.

The Democrats are bought and paid for by big corps and big money, they just pretend that they are not.  The Republican’s are just as bought, but make no pretense and almost brag on being bought.  Who knows, maybe it is more honest.

That I can tell, the Democratic agenda is all defenses and no offense.  They seem to be able to only counter whatever the Republican’s are currently pushing.  Republican’w want to kill Social Security, so Democrats oppose that.  Republican’s want even more tax cuts for the super wealthy, so Democrats oppose.  The Republican’s want increased defense spending, so Democrats oppose.  The Republican’s want to shut down the government, so Democrats oppose.

Professor, I recall no attempts to raise taxes other than as a talking to counter drastic cuts from Republicans with no give from their side.  I hear letting the Bush tax cuts expire, but that is not raising taxes, but letting the tax cuts expire.

What I don’t hear is fix the economy from either side.  The best there was at any time was the stimulus which was lame.  Actually, it is surprising even that happened with the admitted brag that the Republican leadership would do anything and oppose everything to ensure that Obama is a one term President.  How can ANYTHING - let alone the economy or jobs - be worked if one party says they won’t let it happen and worked hard for exactly that?

So, what do the Democrats seem to stand for?  As I see it, destroy the country in 50 years instead of the two years that Republican’s are hell bent to do.

I remember well the same “deficits, deficits, the National Debt, deficits” that pervaded the Clinton years by Republican’s.  Republican’s win the House, Senate, and President with that strategy and poof, no more care, cut taxes for the rich, spend and spend, create two wars and keep those out of the budget to make it look better.  The Clinton years had the budget under control and the debt able to be reduced, but no... tax cuts for the rich....  The national debt went from 5 point something to 11 trillion during the Bush years with not a sniffle of “THE NATIONAL DEBT... THE DEFICITS!”   Now, back to the same crap, trying to get reelected on the same issue after declaring that they would do anything and everything to make sure that the economy stays bad.

How many of you remember the time when the man worked and the wife stayed home to raise the kids and the pay was good enough to have a house, car, pool, and maybe a boat, plus vacations?  People were aid a wage that they could live on.  Now, some work two jobs and can’t ever even hope to own a house.  I can’t say either party has helped that lessen... but I sure see who wants it worse and worse.

Blue, 40 years of hard work is commendable.  And now assumedly you are collecting the SS and get Medicare that you paid in to.  Nice of you and others like you that insist that now that you got yours screw anyone after you.

Did you ever think that changing things so that people can earn a livable wage would stop the need for whatever it is you complain about?  You don’t care about education because you got yours, your kids got theirs now all you see is taxes and want that money in your pocket because why should you care if the American public is uneducated and stupid, you won’t be around to clean up that mess...

So, what are the Democrats for?  I don’t know, but they are a better than any alternative at the moment.  Whatever it is at least it is not declared destruction of the country as the Republicans advocate.
Republican’s CLAIM to be the only Christians and Godly in the nation, yet openly want to starve the poor, kill the elderly with lack of healthcare, and push for the uneducated masses.  I don’t see any of those as Christian in any tiny way...

As far as gun ownership.  That is just the NRA and right wing loonies that push stupid.  I know a great many on the left that want guns and would fight to prevent losing them.  That does not mean that every lunatic should be able to own them either.  If the choice is any loon with a criminal history or frikking legally insane can have one, or regulation to prevent some from owning, I go for the regulations hands down.

Guns don't kill people, people do, and frankly, there are a lot of crazies roaming around that scare me that they COULD own...

Sick of the fights over contraception and Planned Parenthood? Get ready for a new front in what Democrats call the GOP’s “war on women.”

Five female Democratic senators pressed for legislation Wednesday aimed at closing the wage gap between men and women. The Paycheck Fairness Act would bring up to date the Equal Pay Act, which was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson nearly 50 years ago.

Democrats cited statistics showing that women today are still paid 77 cents for every dollar earned by men, or $10,784 less a year on average. That’s the equivalent of 183 tanks of gas or 92 bags of groceries.

“Women still make less for doing the same job with the same education as men do. The pay gap is as real today as it was 49 years ago,” Maryland Sen. Barbara Mikulski, the longest-serving female in Congress, said at a news conference.

Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has promised a cloture vote on the pay bill the week of June 4, after the Senate returns from its week-long Memorial Day recess. Republicans, however, have dismissed the effort as political pandering, and the bill is unlikely to pass without GOP support.

To me it seems like a no-brainer that anyone doing the same job deserves the same pay.  Why should someone get less simply because of gender?  But, do I think that Republican’s will vote for such common sense?  Nope.
