We were by there yesterday...  there was a Salvation Army semi trailer sitting in front of the building and lots of cars...   lots of activity...

Here's Paula's blog article from a couple of days ago:

Note to MM1...   this is the "former" Staples store...  it's south of and across Mall Road from the CURRENT Staples store ;D ;D ;D

Onward Christian soldiers!

There actually is a "Salvation Army" song...   it was popular with the drag queens for whatever reason :o :o :o

Warning:  if you don't have an "open mind" don't even go here!!!

I haven't got a chance to go there yet but I'm sure me and my daughter will get there soon. We love the Salvation Army store  on Eureka Rd in Taylor . That's where we get all of our outfits  for Halloween . :D :D :D  We always make our own costumes & we usually find everything we are looking for there and then we turn them into something awsome with a little imagination.  ;D Love looking at the household stuff there too. I seam to find alot of retro decor stuff . Hope its as good as the Taylor store.

I for one am  glad its here.  :)  So I say "Welcome Salvation Army Store".  ;D ;D ;D

I haven't been to a thrift store in a long time...I'll have to stop by and take a look.

Just saw their ad for the new Monroe store on TV...airtime's not cheap.

BTW....I'm told the Arby's in the Pilot on Nadeau Rd has been closed for the remodel and reopening as a Taco Bell.

Some former employees were retained....some were offered employment at other locations to avoid paying unemployment.

Those chosen as managers had to travel to Missouri for training and the regular employees had to go to Findley for their training....I'm told on their dime but that doesn't sound right to me.

I went today. Some great stuff, very clean. Much nicer then the one in Southgate. Obviously, the items for sale are not from Monroe. Some very high quality clothing, designer items. Tommy Bahama, Ralph Lauren, Liz, Neiman Marcus. I found 3 great little beach chairs for $3.99 a piece. It is well organized and has quite a bit of staff. I am sure some were brought in for the opening from other stores. This store is going to put the Goodwill store out of business.

Yes I went yesterday also, found some nice things. What I like is they have some things that are directly from retail stores, very cool! I will go back when not so crowded. And for the Goodwill store in town, I have NEVER found any thing there worth getting LOL.

They're closed on Sundays, is that right? That's always a bummer to me since that's the only 'free' day in my entire week!

Sundays they are probably busy - -

My favorite memories of the Salvation Army are from the movie/play - Guys & Dolls...

finally made the time to go in the Salvation Army store this morning....not very crowded but VERY clean and friendly......only bought a couple of little things that I didn't really need.....they have new stuff as well as used items....I would definitely go back....we always utilize thrift stores for 4-H, Halloween and other stuff.....not a bad place to pick up extra dishes and storage so when my son comes by to grab something....I don't have to flip out about him taking my tupperware or good plates... :)
