You vote your way, I'll vote mine. The Chinese people think we are such great partners they are jumping off the roofs.

Umm, there is no vote on this bridge. It's happening, done deal.

Also using numbers from 2002 and 2003 are not proving anything, those are a decade old. Furthermore, I'd trade that much hazardous waste for regular garbage any day.

Exactly.  Frankly, I'm surprised she has information that's only a decade old.  It seems like she lives in the 1800's from most of the nonsense she posts.

Here's some more recent info:

By MIKE HOUSEHOLDER, Associated Press
DETROIT (AP) - Four Canadian municipalities, including the City of Toronto, have stopped trucking their trash to Michigan, the state's U.S. senators said Monday.

Democrats Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin announced they've been given assurances that officials from the Ontario governments will honor an agreement the sides negotiated four years ago to stop shipments of city waste to Michigan as of Dec. 31, 2010.

.

25% of ALL US-Canada trade goes through the Detroit/Windsor border.  Not just the "waste".  This is going to create 10,000 jobs and bring BILLIONS of dollars into the SE Michigan economy.

People who will oppose this will do so purely for partisan reasons.

Create jobs?
For who?

Those contractors that will build the bridge already have jobs. Just like the ones who built Ford Field. They came, they built it, they left.

This Bridge was going to happen no matter what.
Wether the People of Michigan or Canada want it or not that Bridge was going to be built.
"THEY" have been cooking this up for over tens years.

Here's a review for you.

What waste is not covered by the agreement?

Michigan also receives non-municipally managed solid waste from Ontario. This agreement does not cover waste under private contract that the Ontario government and its municipalities do not control. Canadians call it Industrial, Commercial and Institutional (IC&I) waste and in Michigan, most of it falls under the general category of "municipal solid waste." IC&I waste is not managed or controlled by the Ontario municipalities; rather it is managed under private contracts. For example, IC&I waste includes waste from factories, construction sites, and other commercial entities.

Where is the federal gov getting the 2 billion for the bridge? Borrowing the money. The massive debt impinges on all of our freedom.

How high are you? The Canadians are footing the bill. Are you Canadian? Are your MURKIN freedoms being taken over because some Canadians want to sidestep a crazy rich guy's monopoly?

The 2.2 billion in federal funds designated for the bridge are being shunted elsewhere for other infrastructure projects, thanks to the Canuck's insistence to get the bridge done, no matter how incompetent we are.

Also, before you start crying about the debt.... the interest rate on this debt is insanely low (10 year T note is like 1.4 percent). It would be criminal not to be using it for investing on things we need, like, i dunno, roads. I know, roads are anti-murkin because the kenyan feds are building it, or whatever.

It's hard to get your fantasies straight.

As much as I don't like Snyder, I think that this is a good idea. That guy that wanted to build his own bridge, wanted to do it on his terms and not negotiate with the Canadians as to where to put it.

Feel free to address the issues I raised. The Canadians aim to import more products and trash into the USA and tear down American neighborhoods to spare theirs. China aims to supply all the steel and corporate aims to give workers the right to work for less in hazardous conditions. But don't worry, the magic Canadian elves will pay for everything the Feds don't. Michigan deserves better!
You must be related to the current bridge owners - or you are gullible to their propaganda...   What crosses the border has nothing to do with the bridge - that's a separate issue -

Why shouldn't Canada be able to determine a border crossing that isn't bottling up traffic?
In fact they are willing to pay for it - so beyond all the "whoa is me the sky is falling"...  it's a great deal for Michigan.   We can even cross it without paying a toll...

The Canadians wanted it out of the City - so they are footing the bill.

All the sidebar discussions on what crosses doesn't mean much as it crosses the monopoly bridge now.

Michigan decided to not expend funds (the Legislature voted no), so the Canadians made us an offer we couldn't refuse...   Free!

What "vote" does the billionaire want from Michiganders?
      - Keep my monopoly vote?
      - Turn down a free bridge vote?

So where is it going to come into Michigan?  I think I read south of where the bridge is now, but what will have to be torn down?  Empty buildings? Warehouses? Homes?

What the hell has the government EVER done that has been FREE???
As Lordfly used to say, "Jesus Christ in a dumptruck!"
