Per the normal ebb and flow of local politics and the election cycle ABATE Region 18 has been attending events and fund raisers for the local candidates that support our issues.
We have also invited some of them to come to our monthly meetings to speecify and stump for their individual races.
Some bizarre stuff has came up regarding the local Republican Party that on it's face makes no sense.
Like "Republicans" recruiting other "Republicans" to run against already elected Republicans.
Generally speeking you don't see this a lot on the local level during the Presidential cycle, the Parties tend to look for Party Unity.
Unless they have adopted the "Shoot Yourself in the Foot" Agenda?
It don't seem to make sense to drain the coffers of an established office holder in a Primary if you already have the seat. Support the incumbant, right?
This I have to believe is the on going struggle between the Establishment and the Tea Party folks here in the County.
The one I find interesting is the Probate Judge race.
Several candidates, one seat.
Yet one "Democrat" keeps showing up at Republican events.
Jill LaVoy.
She attended the Lincoln-Reagan Dinner and ponyed up 600 bucks for the Monroe County Flag that was auctioned off.
This is the biggest fund raiser for Monroe County Republicans held. To my understanding the funds raised go to support local Republicans running for office. Seems funny a Democrat would "donate" so much to that particular effort?
Then she was seen at the local Republicans Womens Committee luncheon. I can't believe a Democrat would pick up much support at a function like that?
It would be nice if Judges and Candidates for Judge just ran non-partisan.
If there is an Agenda here it sure is hard to make sense of what the local Republicans are trying to do without ripping their Party to pieces.
A lot of folks run as "something" because that is how to win in certain areas.
Heck in my US House district 2 (maybe 3) cycles ago a prominent Democrat switched parties when he faced a Democrat opponent he knew would beat him in the primary, but in a heavier than average Republican district he knew if he could win the R primary that blind partisanism might just carry him through. Tim Walberg did a nice job of weeding him out though. It is all about party politics and power retention SMASH.
Nice to see you are still trying to choose "your handlers" though... Isn't that what you always criticize the rest of us for?
You should be pleased Ms. Lavoy forked over $600 to YOUR TEAM, no confused.
Just like with your opposition to the bridge... You seems to always be LOOKING to kick the gift horse in the nutz.
