WTOL just reported a possible drowning in "Lake Monroe" at LaPlaisance & Dunbar. (aka Lake France?)

With all the teen foot traffic in and out of there getting into the water, it seems only a matter of time before a drowning happens.   I SO hope the report of a "possible" drowning is wrong. 


Does anyone know anything?

I doubt it, but maybe now people will realize why there is a fence there and no trespassing signs all over.  But kids think they are infallible, that it will never happen to them.

This is so sad. 

We always see groups of teens much younger than 20 with their towels slung over their shoulders heading through and over the fence to get in to the quarry right there on Dunbar.

We've said so many times that it's a disaster waiting to happen. 



It's always fun 'till somebody gets hurt.

On the east side the fence is gone isn't it?  My dad said most of the emergency vehicles were in the area of Hull and Dunbar.

According to today's update, they entered private property at the west side of Hull Rd.,  an area not visible from the road.

East side of the quarry and west side of Hull Rd. is the same location. 

Some of the area along there is so overgrown it's hard to tell if there is a fence there or not.  Along Laplaisance just north of Hull there is obviously no fence there.  Some posts but not fenced.  Some of those old concrete highway temporary barriers it looks like, but no fence.  I go that way quite often and also see lots of kids in the area with towels and bathing suits so the number of users must be fairly high

I guess i would remind teens who may see these videos and not realize what a blast they could be having at the lake right here in town that, unless there are precuations taken to assist someone in distress (like a buoy to toss in or someone who is a certified lifeguard, etc), it could be very, very dangerous.

JUST ASK THE FAMILY OF THE GUY WHO DIED THERE THIS WEEK. 

OR ASK THE GIRL WHO HAD TO PUSH THE DROWNING MAN AWAY SO SHE WOULDN'T DROWN HERSELF.
I can't imagine what she must be feeling. 


BUT IT SURE LOOKED LIKE THEY WERE SURE HAVING A BLAST.
