Certification of the ESBWR is awaiting resolution of errors in the modeling of the reactor design's steam dryer, which "called into question certain conclusions" in an NRC staff safety review concluded in March 2011, the agency said in the "Summary of NRC ESBWR review status."

Detroit Edison has picked the ESBWR design as the basis for a potential new unit at its Fermi site in Michigan, but yet to decide whether to actually build a reactor.

Both GEH and NRC have said the steam dryer, which removes moisture from steam generated by the reactor before sending it to the turbines to produce electricity, is a component not essential to safety.

Profits over people. DTE doesn't give a rat's *** about the people or environment of Monroe. Neither does the government on all levels that keep taking bribes and allow it to destroy. It may be hard to imagine, but we can do better than industrial wasteland.
