Why is it so important to you that others believe the same as you do?

Before, when you considered yourself a Christian, you claimed to have all the answers, and claimed to know more about religion than everyone else.

Now that you are an atheist, or whatever it is you claim to be now, you claim to have all the answers, and claim to more more about religion than everyone else.

I guess the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Oh, by the way, I think this time you finally picked a name here that suits you Xerxes.

It's okay, Xerxes.  I'm still praying for you.

You're not getting it... If I knew it all before then why did I change my beliefs? I am willing to change my beliefs if someone has a better argument in favor of theirs.

All you did there was display your ability to use an Ad Hominem, which exposes your ground of faulty logic. Until you can learn how to add something to a discussion that's on topic, without posting a mere insult, you're merely a troll.

I stated that you CLAIMED to know it all before, not that you actually did.

Just like now, you are stating that you know all once again.

Everyone else is wrong, and only you are right. You love to antagonize those that do not believe the same as you.

I am not cutting you down for what you believe. I have other friends who are atheists, others who believe in other gods, and I don't cut them down for their beliefs either.

I also don't force my beliefs on others. I don't condemn them or tell them that their beliefs are stupid, or silly, or anything like that. Because it is what they believe, and I try and respect other peoples beliefs as long as they don't harm anyone else.

I once again relinquish this category back to you oh king of kings, as Xerxes claimed himself to be. You will once again be free to antagonize those who will listen to you.

You seem to relish it, just as you did before.

Now that Bunnies has flexed his hypocritical ego, we can get back on topic. It's funny how people, like Bunnies, doesn't see that his ego, lusting to contend, just had to point out my pride in the very spirit of pride. I admit that it's my ego that debates and contends, but people like him can't realize his own ego.

Maybe people will stop using ad hominems and intelligently discuss the topic matters?

It's amazing how people refuse to be friends with people and alienate them over a character they only see in cartoon form. Jesus is invisible but he's more important than others we can see, for they don't believe in him!

Why do you think that is?

WOW!

And you want people to give you one OUNCE of credibility that you are intellectually honest in your propositions about Christianity and the historical account of Jesus being false?

Are there words to describe how cruel, offensive, and "in your face" what you just posted???

I have a pretty good command of the English language; I can even use cuss words in a rather direct and demeaning way - but - I'll just practice Christian self-restraint and hopefully the viewing public will be likewise moved enough to come out of their turtle shells and rip into you the way you ought to be ripped into for taking your ridicule to this degree.

You're a real piece of work; I am a cancer survivor by the way...it was discovered while my wife was pregnant with our 5th child ...

Truth hurts. Reality hurts.

I think my last post was powerfully true.

If you survived cancer then I'd say you're lucky. I was at my Mom's bedside four months ago as she gasped for breath and died. She was still so young. Endometrial cancer spread throughout her body.

She had hundreds of people praying for her, in the name of Jesus, and no healing. The cancers people make it through are ones humans can treat and catch in time. There are no healings in the name of Jesus. And what a terrible thought to think God would heal some while others sincerely draw upon him to be made better and aren't. That's as bad as a god provided from rebellious Hebrews for 40 years, with bread from heaven, but won't feed the thousands of children being prayed for in the name of Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.

I remember right before my Mom died, she hoped for a miracle, and she was so sincere about it. She was a Christian, and I didn't say much to her to cause her to doubt, because I felt her faith may help her in that time of need. The sick and dying are not the ones to take faith from, as it takes time to readjust through a crisis of faith. One will adapt and do just fine without their former erroneous beliefs, but it takes time. One ought to lose faith in erroneous beliefs in a time of health.

I used to believe people could be healed in the name of Jesus. I remember I once had a wisdom tooth that came and cracked. It got infected and it hurt BAD. I got desperate and in faith, I used the name of Jesus, and very sincerely. Guess what happened? Nothing. I can hear the voices around the world: In the name of Jesus! In the name of Jesus! In the name of Jesus! Over and over... Nothing happens.

No doubt, one can find comfort in the name of Jesus. When they struggle they can lean on that character, as one who suffered and understands and who will be with them through their struggles, but the name of Jesus isn't healing people. Jesus can be a powerful symbol of the purest and most virtuous spirit within nature, but hey, so can the Buddha, Krisha, etc. The virtue radiates in nature through good and compassionate people, apart from even hearing of this legendary Jesus or Buddha.

Anyways, If I had cancer I'd be getting chemotherapy, because the name of Jesus just wouldn't work. Isn't it strange how back pain, stomach ulcers, headaches, and such things are healed by God, but nothing that can be proven medically. No growing back of limbs for amputees, no bread from heaven upon a starving Africa, no healing for the Schizophrenic with a gun to his head.

Damn... Reality does hurt. But it's easier if you accept and surrender to what really is.

I pity you, Xerxes.  You are one sick individual.

Have you ever considered that it is the will of Jesus for us to use chemotherapy?

If you are so adamant that you should only take faith away from only "healthy" people, have you ever considered that your words on this forum may be read by someone who is suffering a life-threatening illness?  I doubt that your words can shake a Christian's faith, but why take that chance?

Have you ever considered? ? ? ? ?

No.  That's the very definition of one who is INCONSIDERATE.

The truth hurts, huh?

The way I see it, is that forums, like this, designed to debate and discuss Religion and Philosophy are for just that. This is the proper place to debate and be open about what we believe, etc. In reality, many sick people DO lose faith, as they pray and pray and nothing happens. So, could a sick person come to a forum where counterpoints to their faith are stated, which can cause them to doubt? Yes. But it's their choice not to read it my posts.

It's only creating doubt in ideas that build up false hope that leads to even greater sorrow in the end.

Yeah. I used to think this Jesus character healed the sick. He doesn't. Yeah, it hurt to realize that. But again, this character can give peace to those who use him as an archetype of the purest nature and virtue. That's where Jesus can be beneficial. Nothing wrong with setting one's eyes on a virtuous character and conforming to a pure way of life.
