Beyond the sadness of a death and the effect on the other driver,
That's quite different than my first thoughts...  something to do with stopping to use the roadside commode.   (Not uncommon at 3am)

Sad if road rage was the cause

Sounds like you're thinking of the Heiss Rd. accident...  it happened around 2:30 and not too far west of the tracks...   but I think Frenchfry is speaking about the one that happened in the daytime Post and Newport South Road...  the car ended up upside down between the tracks...   when I saw the picture I figured it was a case of driving too fast to get over the tracks safely...   and if someone was chasing them that could explain why they were driving so fast :-\ :-\ :-\

Looks like the stories on the original links no longer exist.

That exemplifies why the copy and paste function is worth the effort....it preserves information that oftentimes the original sources may consider disposable.

Anyway I heard a few tidbits on what happened with the accident near the RR tracks....the scuttlebutt is that they were being chased by a car they bumped.

FF.....that is what I heard as well....from someone who knows the person the driver allegedly bumped....claims it wasn't a chase....they were only following in order to talk to the driver of the other car....

Either way, the result was the same. Even following could be perceived as being chased. Now I'm wondering if the legal system will treat the case the same way the one in southern Monroe County was handled?

Shame when two may have been prevented...
#1 - No seat belt
#2 - No Helmet

Prayers for all

The man who died in the Motorcycle accident was a good friend of mine.  I was just with him only hours before he died.  His neck was broken when he hit the road sign.  A helmet would not have prevented his death in this case.

It was a horrible tradegy.  We are truly devistated for having lost our wonderful friend Biskett :(

Sometimes, and I don't know if the three wrecks referred to in the thread title apply, removal of some people's defective DNA from the available gene pool isn't an entirely bad thing...

That's quite a nasty thing to say. Not sure how you can look at yourself in the mirror everyday with thoughts like that. You disgust me.

you should not make assumptions.
Education and experience lead to more than an assumption when the other passenger(s)
wearing their seatbelts survived the crash, while the one not was ejected.

I'll give you the motorcycle - as you've all convinced me that helmets are meaningless - if you crash going fast...  They do work at slower speeds.

They do can work at slower speeds.
Fixed it for you.   ;)

But I still contend the extra weight of a helmet makes the body into a human Jart.

I can't believe how close we came to seeing another possible motorcycle crash yesterday in Frenchtown...    we were just pulling out of the entrance to Detroit Beach.  The light turned green and the car ahead of us didn't pull ahead...   for several seconds...   I was just thinking about giving them a short blast of the horn to get them off their cell phone when I saw the motorcycle (man driving, a gal riding behind) heading south and obviously not paying any attention to the light...   after a few more seconds they rode right on through...   I don't think they ever did realize the light had been red for them for probably 7 or 8 seconds by the time they went under it.  And the car ahead of me then proceeded to make a left turn and followed them south.  I'm just grateful that car was ahead of me...   not sure if I would have noticed the motorcycle or not.  He really wasn't speeding but must have been daydreaming :-\ :-\ :-\
