Monroe woman Raped by area psychiatrist
« on: July 12, 2012, 01:30:54 AM »

I have not been tuning into the news lately but this was something that caught my eye.

MONROE, Mich. (WXYZ) - The woman who accused a Monroe psychiatrist of raping her is speaking out for the first time.

Twenty-six-year-old Holly Hord, a mother of two, filed a civil lawsuit against Dr. Abdullahi Mohamed Wednesday seeking $10,000,000 in damages.

She tried not to cry as she stood by her attorney and pleaded with other potential sexual assault victims to come forward.

"Please, don't let this man intimidate you, because I let him do it to me for months," said Hord.

Hord said Dr. Mohamed raped her during a session at his office in Frenchtown Township.  Michigan State Police arrested him after she reported the alleged assault in May.   Her attorney claimed Dr. Mohamed traded sex for drugs.

“I trusted him completely with my life, giving me medicine that was supposed to make me better,” said Hord.  She said that he forced himself on her and took advantage of her.

“Finally, I had to come forward, and there's so many girls who have come forward since then, and I hope if there's any more, please go to the state police and let them know what’s going on," said Hord.

Prosecutors charged the 58-year-old with criminal sexual conduct in May.  Hord said had been seeing Dr. Mohamed for a while without any problems, but then for some reason his behavior changed late last year.

“Up until December time period he was a normal person.  His behavior just made a complete switch around that period,” said Hord.

So far eight other victims have gone to Michigan State Police with similar stories of sexual assault.

Dr. Mohamed was on staff at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe when the allegations first made headlines.  The Dearborn Heights man had been a psychiatrist in the Monroe area for the past ten years.

When Dr. Mohamed appeared in court on the charges last month he told the judge he was not currently practicing anywhere.

I vaguely remember it hitting the MEN last year, and so many people (mostly women) came to his defense - claiming how much his practice helped them deal with life, etc (drugs).

This just smacks the face of the article that is presently on the MEN regarding drugs in our city/county/state/country...

Here was one of your enablers.

I would like to follow this story and watch for the outcome.

(on a side note, maybe someone can say that his practice was too close to Fermi which affected his ability to perform as a normal doctor in society.... LOL)

We need a better source in the Court system - like a "reporter"...

There are several cases that seem to have disappeared after splashy headlines.

Lt Davis and OMNI
The undertaker who stole from his clients
and more...

I guess plea bargains don't make news.

Last year? I thought the lady in the article said that he was acting normally until January of this year, when he suddenly snapped.

The MEN seems to prefer to be reactive rather than proactive. Take the article about the new sheriff, where was all the reporting up until now of the drug problem.  8*

I agree. I believe there is an effort by the politicians in this town to try and make Monroe look like Mayberry and the MEN is taking part in this. They should be out there reporting what is really happening and exposing the ugly underbelly of Monroe.

This article is dated May 18, 2012 and it sounds as if it happened just before then.

there was something about this last year -- perhaps it was another case -- it went almost hand in hand with the dr who was arrested for using Monroe (La Plaisance Rd location) as a drug "outlet" instead of a practice -- we almost reported about it on the Agora, and then decided that "it really didn't affect campus students" -- when in truth it does affect everyone, it was just no one wanted to "make waves" on the college campus.

I give these women a huge thank you for coming forward and so should the rest of you. If this is going on, they could have prevented a female in each of our personal lives from becoming a victim.  And if this is a behavior that has just recently began and has affected at least 8 women already, what could it have escalated to?

Also I agree it seemed that Monroe News was hesitant on posting a lot about the drug problems but I am pretty sure most everyone in Monroe and surrounding areas was aware.  MEN seems to be bringing it into the light now so I am looking forward to the service that they will be providing for the county.  I say, thank you very much.

Professor H they did have an online article today about the ex OMNI officers.  "Drug cop face trial" maybe a little "under the ruggish" with the title???

Also Professor H you have to hold on to your old papers and really study the court news to see which folks were charged with what in the beginning and then a month or maybe three later you will see the final outcome.  I think you may be outraged if you follow it for a while but then become a bit complacent since it has been going on so long.  Seems like crime really does pay in Monroe County : (

One thing I am interested in is why with all of the overdoses that resulted in death-the young Wandt woman was the only one I have seen charged?  I may have missed others though.  Surely there must be some men in Monroe responsible for selling drugs to someone who overdosed?  With all of the other problems please don't tell me Monroe is discriminating against women too? Maybe someone can dig up some old archived court papers that I have missed.  Sure seems if she was in jail, and someone knew 20-25 people in the past year that overdosed, somebody had to sell it to them?

I'm a bit saddened that WXYZ decided to run the woman's name. Rape victim's should never have their name or face published, it only serves to add to their anguish in the future. They shouldn't be punished for coming forward to report a crime.

Ms. Hord held a press conference with her civil lawsuit attorney.   There is a video here:
