ACLU Releases "Police Tape" Android App
"The New Jersey chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU-NJ) has just released "Police Tape," an Android phone app that allows people to securely and discreetly record and store their interactions with police, as well as provide legal information about citizens' rights when interacting with law officers."

How is this any different than any other recording app?

I also very much dislike the editorializing when they claim "cops don't like being videotaped."

These people (The Turks) are nothing but hacks.

Curious as to the legality of recording - although they record you in most instances.

As long as you are in a public place you can record anybody else that is there.
Also in Michigan only one person has to know that the recording is happening (for audio at least)

Had you watched more than a few seconds...you would've had your answers...perhaps you have ADD...oh wait....one symptom would be hyperactivity...and that's not you.

13 seconds in, the video states the app blacks out the screen so LE can't tell they're being video recorded and @ 34 seconds the story said the video is saved on the ACLU server since phone confiscation and/or damage has happened in the past.

Not "editorializing"....what they said was a true statement...but it's not the first time you've been wrong...you should be used to it by now.

Hacks? You don't even know what the word means.

I saw where it said it had a black screen. Again, no different than a dozen other recording systems out there.

And yes, it was very much injecting his own opinion and insinuating that all cops are like the few examples from across the country, that's editorializing.

That's exactly what Fox News does, the Turks are no better.

As I hear quite often when I bring up any type of situation where the police are recording the public...   "if you're not doing anything wrong then don't worry about it"...

so, I guess the only police that would fear this app (or my video camera or smart phone even) are the ones that may be doing something wrong" 8* 8* 8*

Really? A dozen you say? I didn't know apps were available that allows video to be saved in real time to a server. No different? So that must mean your dozen examples also provides the black screens.

And yes, it was very much injecting his own opinion and insinuating that all cops are like the few examples from across the country, that's editorializing.
A well known fact could hardly be considered an opinion or editorializing.
Perhaps you ought to research the subject a little better before making assumptions.
And BTW...it appears you are the one "editorializing"
Hypocrite comes to mind.

LOL....you're entitled to your opinion...no matter how wrong.

Yes Fry there are many apps that let you do those things. I can record straight to any number of websites, such as my blog, youtube, etc with just the flick of a button on my phone. My hand held camera does the same. I can change the settings on my camera to remain black when recording, and it's just a cheap one that is three years old. So yes this is no different than other things already out there.

As for your 'fact.' I'm not going to argue with you. You can't argue with a madman. He clearly insinuated that all cops do these things, when in reality a small portion of them do and that is all. It doesn't make it right for those that do, but lumping them all into one category is asinine.
