You are absolutely correct BRD, I was just hoping to know before the election to better inform my choice. I think I know who I'll be voting for, but some things could change that.

I don't believe I said that now did I? Just asked for some information.
Then what exactly did you mean by this?:
It matters a great deal. I know many of the current staff, and there are some people that I would be more comfortable with than others. So depending on who is elected and who they bring with them it could help or hurt their chances of getting my vote.

I meant exactly what I said. I'd be more comfortable with some people than others. That is not to say that I think any can't do it.

Well you must have meant something by what you said.
You're leaving plenty of room for interpretation.
What specifically makes you uncomfortable?
You don't have to reveal any names.

You're right.

Well what makes you less comfortable?

For starters, when I mistakenly buy underwear that is one size too small. Very uncomfortable.

So what you're saying is....around some members of the MCSD, your underwear feels tight?   :o
I assume the same gender but that's really none of my business.  :P
Seriously....what type of reservations do you have?

So tell it like it is  If you work across the street then everything your saying is nothing more than hearsay.  You have NO first hand experience as a correction officer, unless your not, telling it like it is.
No one feels the corrections officers are second class, but the corrections officers that are not happy with their job.

They were all advised what their job would be before the were hired.  Remember no one forced them to take the job as a corrections officer. In years past most the deputies were promoted from the ranks of corrections officers. See that word (Promoted) that means the deputy position was higher than corrections.
The current sheriff did the same, but after spending money paying for their academy the ones that made it were then placed into training on the road. A number of them quit the training and went back to work in the jail, so that practice stopped.   I would like to see that opened again.

Why is the pay of other people any of your concern?  Deputies have taken cuts in pay/benefits, because that's what the times demand.  Hey sergeants make more than deputies, so should the deputies be upset and fell like their second class?
Remember a few years ago corrections officer's badges were different than a deputies.  After crying that second class stuff, the sheriff gave them all badges that looked liked the deputies.

It seems to me from what your saying corrections officers hare having an identity crisis.  Like a lot of companies there are job classifications, in Monroe County the deputies classification is higher than corrections.   Should the deputies feel like second class citizens because they have a sergeant, or lieutenant above them? Or should they work to achieve the higher position.
When you say Redmond "Will even up the department"  please tell everyone what he promised the correction officer to get their vote. How is he going to even it up.
So you think endorsements will make a person win.  Endorsements from a police chief in a three man department is nice, even endorsements from people out of the state is nice, but that will not win you the election.  Just one of Malone's endorsements have a membership of over 19,000 people.  That's almost like saying whom ever has the most signs out will win.

Bottom line we will all see on Aug. 7th.

As far as who will be the undersheriff or majors I don't think we will know that until after the primary.
I hope people vote for the person they think will be best for the citizen's of Monroe County & Sheriffs' Office, not because of promises they were given for their vote. The three all have a vision of what they want to do.

Mr. Big you are correct in saying we will see Aug 7th.  I just hope who ever gets in will see all employees as a team instead of only some.  And the 19,000 you quote, probably about 100 or less are actually Monroe County voters.  What did Mr. Malone promise the deputies that makes you so partial to him? I am not sure of promises made by Mr. Redmond, but as far as promises the only one who is claiming to be free of those is Mr. Harrington.....

No reservations per se, I just think that there are certain people that should be promoted over others.

Both Redmond & Malone are very honorable men, and although I do not know Mr. Harrington I'm sure he is also.
It's my belief  it will be either Redmond or Malone who will then run against the Republican in Nov.
As far as Malone making promises to the deputies, I believe he only promised to run the Sheriff's Office the best he can.
The thing with Malone, deputies have seen him as their union leader, and the their, Sergeant, Lieutenant and their Major.  With this said they have been able to observe him in a multitude of positions and made a decision based on that.

As for your remark "And the 19,000 you quote, probably about 100 or less are actually Monroe County voters", you were the one that brought up the endorsements, and you were counting all of Redmond's out of county  endorsements.  Can't have it both ways.

As someone that came from corrections to the road, I do not remember myself or anyone in the jail felling like second class people.

Well Harrington did preface a response with "contrary to rumors" before making a denial.

Malone said he didn't make any

Redmond said he didn't plan on bringing any outsiders in....not exactly a promise that he wouldn't.

Truth be told...I know next to nothing about the candidates aside from what I've been able to glean from MEN/MT and the video interview.

IMO...that video interview worked in favor of Malone.

And unless something very damaging happens between now and the primary....I predict Malone wins with a landslide of votes.

I'd advise against anyone contemplating sullying the reputation of any of the candidates without solid proof.
Such a moronic move could end up being a very costly mistake.

That is hilarious coming from you, and extremely ironic. It must be only ok for you to sully the reputation of candidates without solid proof.
