I guess no more seriously than a candidate who believes in the transfiguration; or a candidate who believes that one nights worth of candle oil lasted for eight nights; or a candidate who believes that talking in tounges or the ability to discren the message by those who talk in tounges.

Watcher:  Do you have any religious belief at all?  If so, what do you believe in and why?

I am an Agnostic with heavy Atheist leanings.  As to the why, it is the only logical to dismiss religion as a fantasy.

I agree with your statement but that does not answer my questions...does it?

There are many, many reasons not to like Mitt Romney, but his Mormonism isn't one of them.

The state of Utah has the fewest auto accidents in which alcohol is a factor.  It's like 26% to 40 or 50% for the rest of the country.  Mormons tend to be civic-minded, clean-living people.  As a Catholic, I belong to a tradition that upholds a three-part God, an immaculate conception and the idea that a wafer of bread actually becomes a piece of skin during a mass.  But what the hell, everyone has to believe something.

As far as Romney himself, he seems phony to me.  He has flip-flopped on so many issues that it is really hard to tell what he actually believes.

And, really, it doesn't matter because he has tied himself to a Republican machine that supports torture, elimination of habeas corpus, $3 trillion dollars in additional debt, disregard for international organizations and a strike-first foreign policy.

When voting for president, it is not about the individual.

I'll take Romney's beliefs over yours.  What is an agnostic with heavy atheist leanings, anyway?  Sounds like you want to sit the fence; or hedge your bet!

Let me educate you as you don't seem to understand the terms.  An Agnostic says he doesn't know if God exists or not and never will and thus ignores the whole stupid program.  An Atheist claims there is not God.

I am an Agnostic and not an Atheist because I can't prove there is no God just as religious folks can't prove there is one. I really think there is no God but don't know for 100% certain.

I once heard that you will never find a Agnostic or Atheist in a fox hole or on a death bed. Is that true?

No I am not critizing you Watcher, we all have to believe in something,, or we will fall for anything.

That's because the military systemically intimidates and humiliates service members who aren't religious. I saw it happen. A guy declined attending sunday services so the sergeant made him mop the bay and bathrooms.

Someone has to keep the latrine clean. Perhaps the sergeant recognized attending church is good for more than learning about God; It requires discipline, paying attention, and respect, things that are well-used on the battlefield.

Thanks for totally defending the religious intimidation and humiliation that occurs in the military.

I'll say this on the subject...If you were to find yourself in a foxhole with bombs going off and bullets flying over your head...I think you might be thinking about religion a lot...I personally haven't been there, but I know for sure I'd be praying to someone or something to be watching my butt...It's a natural thing for humans to do...(deep down we all want that protector on high looking out for us, regardless if it's true or not, the idea is what gives us hope...)

Someone has to keep the latrine clean. Perhaps the sergeant recognized attending church is good for more than learning about God; It requires discipline, paying attention, and respect, things that are well-used on the battlefield.

Yeah, someone has to keep the latrine clean and that person by not going to church service volunteered for it by not going to church service...It has nothing to do with church service invoking super discipline and respect on the battlefield...The Sargent saw the opportunity to bash the guy for not wanting to go to church and getting the latrine clean at the same time, plain and simple...I bet you the next time he was the first in line to go to church...The military wants robots, not free thinkers...

Sad you confuse Romney with Big Love.  BTW:  They are not Mormons.  You cannot be a Mormon and involved in poligimy.  Your statement is a stupid as saying, "all I learned about catholics was from watching the Thorn Birds."  Com'on; get real.

Inasmuch as I cannot know what is in the minds and hearts of every GI who has been in a fox hole or held philosophical discussion with every human who was ever on a death bed, I cannot comment on the accuracy of the statement and neither can any one else.  It sounds like nonsense to me however.
