"Like helping the underprivileded". Compassionate and caring. How can you argue with that? Well I'll give it a shot.
Today's reality doesn't have much to do with those words anymore. Caring and compassion towards the underpriviledged is run through HHS and administered
through hundreds of federal government programs. Thousands of bureaucrats
shuffling the paper necessary to keep the gears turning and the checks going out the door. When the government increases spending for the underprivaledged we
are told this demonstrates how we are even more caring and compassionate.
Well I don't think so. You've got the inner city poor. Government works diligently to make sure they are able to survive. They may have to live in a toxic dangerous environment, but they endure. That's about it. For far far too many of these folks that will be all they'll ever know. They've never even heard of the American Dream! No education, no marketable skills, no esteem, no future. But the wheel turns and the government creates more programs, hires more bureaucrats, spends more money and the checks keep going out the door. The number of poor people increases.
Government doesn't improve the situation of the poor, it perpetuates it. To me
that is neither compassionate, nor caring, nor helping the underpriviledged.
LOL...your view of how the world works is always a hoot.
I'd bet many of the NAACP members are in better shape financially than you.
Contrary to what you may have heard, the underprivileged cuts across all races.
And while you're singing that old tired tune about government creating an entitlement dependency....it simply isn't true.
I know lots of people living hand to mouth and the government doesn't give them a damned thing.
I like the picture you painted with all those government workers. Too bad they'd join the legions of unemployed if Republicans regain power.
Between 2009-2011, 636,000 public sector jobs have been lost....
Austerity is NOT the answer and you Conservative/Republican/Tea Partiers ought to quit demanding it.
Since you seem to enjoy attacking the government for providing a social safety net....let's hear your answer to correcting the social ills you've described.
Gutting programs and forcing people to fend for themselves is asinine and unconscionable...but that's what Republicans would do....anyone that thinks charity should be the only safety net is an idiot...the R's are completely out of touch.
Jay Leno said: "Romney told the crowd that if he were elected president, he would fight for all millionaires, black or white."
Mitt Romney is hiding his accounts in Switzerland...and his accounts in the Cayman Islands...Bermuda...yet you righties have said nothing.
He'll only show one tax return....the least amount of disclosure of any Presidential candidate, of either political Party, in the last 36 years.
Republicans are trying to steal the election by requiring a poll tax..(voter ID laws)
And in Massachusetts, the Republican Delegates are being forced to sign a legal pledge that they'd vote for Romney at the Republican convention in August. Some of the Ron Paul fans balked at the proposal so the state party tossed those guys out. Even those that did sign the affidavit were thrown out...they didn't sign it quickly enough.
Yep those elected delegates were disqualified by the state party.
And now the Republican Party of "NO" in the Senate blocked a bill to provide tax breaks to small businesses that hire new workers.
Not to mention all the lies spewed by the right....
According to the CBO, taxes are at a 30 year low, despite the lies being parroted by the Tea Party/Conservative/Republican righties.
Sadly the Republicans refuse to allow the Bush tax cuts expire for the top 2%
Because of Republican obstructionism, the largest income tax increase will hit the lowest income tax bracket with a 50% tax increase!
Meanwhile the top tax bracket will only see an increase of 13%!
As for the NAACP speech....Romney brought his own cheering section.
The media is just now revealing more about his outsourcing.
Romney is a serial liar...and it may have started way back when he started calling himself Mitt instead of his real name: Willard.
Romney claims to not know where his money is....yeah that's the guy you want to fix the economy.
Because of Romney...a new word has been created: Romnesia
Now it appears Romney may have committed a felony.
http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/07/obama-team-romney-committed-a-felony-or-lied-to-voters-128757.htmlBut it's not the first time Romney committed a felony....he handed out subs for votes in Wisconsin.
May as well stick a fork in your guy....he's done.
