And when you are the big bully on the block, everyone else on the block will eventually band together to try and take you out.

Afghanistan was a mistake, and Iran was an even bigger mistake.

Everyone says that alternative energy is too expensive. How many lives do we have to give up to keep that precious flow of oil coming?

None... we have it here.  How many lives do we have to sacrifice in the name of keeping the foreign flow going?

Sure they do, it's good for business... :P

Ahemm!!!! It is good business for BOTH parties.  You partisans are just stuck in your ruts, no changing that situation... it is an election year after all.

I agree on both counts. Sorry to change the last one on you, but the oil industry pretty much owns both of the political parties in office right now.
I agree. There are only 3 of them near Ann Arbor and one in Adrian. (CNG) If you include LPG gas, that would increase it a lot.

So you are smart enough to figure out that big oil owns BOTH parties, yet naive enough to think that ONLY REPUBLICANS will go to war for their handlers?  WAKE THE HELL UP!

You also said

And why is everyone so concerned about who I am? I've been a member on this forum for quite some time. Look at my profile.

Who are you? Who is Monroe Native? What does it matter?

You missed the recent "leaving" of a few members who seem to have the same ideas/ideals that you are espousing.

That's all  - it was just a coincidence that you became more active just after their announcements they were quitting.

Either way I'm glad you are participating and just because we may differ, I still learn and enjoy the dialogue.

It is hard to compromise when the two sides are so far apart.  I see the federal government as the problem, others see it as the solution.  I want to shrink the federal government, others want to expand it to take over large parts of the economy.  I want individuals to take control of their lives, others see them as victims that can't help themselves.

Now - if you want to talk about minimizing the size of the Federal Government and lets tackle the other issues on the state or local level - I see room to compromise.  Then I am willing to do more programs to help individuals out of poverty.

On the Federal level - no way - I can't compromise my beliefs, and I am not willing to surrender my liberty and freedom so someone else can be taken care of cradle to grave.
