Are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner?
« on: November 20, 2012, 07:01:18 PM »

??  I am letting my children go to their in-laws homes on Thursday.  We will once again combine both Christmas and Thanksgiving, calling it "Thanksmas" on a sunday in December.  I will be  baking a chicken dinner for myself and inviting my little old lady neighbor over to join me. :)  Share your plans! We want to know!

Thanksmas.  I like that!  :)

Yes, we're having the group here.  There will be a frenzy in the kitchen for sure!

Lots of faces, food and football.  (Yeah, I guess there's no getting around the Lions. :-\ )

No running around on Thanksgiving this year, hooray!

I will also be cooking chicken dinner with lots of extras.  My son plans to be here so he can have some of the leftovers :).

Are you taking over a wild turkey that you took out with a Bowie knife after you dropped down out of that tree while body painted in camo?

We aren't cooking this year.  Me, ATG and all the rug rats are going to my moms for dinner.  There will be a few adult beverages, too, I think.

But we get to cook for Christmas!   ;D

Yep, I cooked it all.

Turkey
Sausage and mushroom stuffing
Gravy
Mashed potatoes
Squash
Candied Sweet potatoes
green bean casserole
cranberry sauce (from the can)
Cranberry relish (homemade)
Dinner rolls
Homemade Pumpkin Pie
Homemade Cherry Pie
Homemade Blueberry Pie

The food is all taken care of, and the dishwasher is running.

The pies are starting to look good now. :D

The pies look delicious, lily!   Almost too pretty to cut.

Our big meal is over, and I took enough leftovers to my son so I know he will eat well for at least three days now.  Just sitting around relaxing now, and it feels real good.   Yawn......

Final touches going on now, and the smell coming out of the kitchen is down home fantastic.

Only issue is the fireplace has the house so hot that I'm near ready to put on a pair of shorts and my dashiki shirt.  A bottle of Jacob Leinenkugel's Octoberfest will fit nicely in the front pocket.

The cherry is my favorite, well maybe a tie for lemon meringue, but I will save making that one until Sunday night as my son won't be able to make it here until Monday. He had to work all weekend. :(

The pumpkin is just tradition for Thanksgiving, and the blueberry was a special request.

I just finished a small piece of each (about wide enough at the edge to get a fork under it). I think it's nap time.

Fuzz, l Leinenkugel's has some of the prettiest fall colors for a nice fall-time tree.

I will have to remember that for when I get totally wasted and decide to make some GD tackyass tree in my backyard.

Perhaps a Double D Bra tree.
