Crock Pot Chicken
« on: January 15, 2013, 04:01:31 PM »

About a year or so ago I asked for spare rib recipes and it seemed to go over well.

Bought a whole roasted chicken at a local grocer.  I won't finish it all.

Any ideas on crock pot chicken carcass?

Try this.....I have.  Not too shabby, and healthy.

About the only thing I haven't tried in the crock pot is brownies with some of my favorite herb.   ;)

I barely remember one where I think you use Cream of Mushroom soup, then layer canned biscuits over as dumplings.

That would work great too......I've done turkey breast with the Golden Cream of Mushroom soup and it does taste very good.  Never thought of using the canned biscuits as dumplings though....good idea.

I love my crock pot!!

Same here.....I use mine at least 2 to 3 days a week.

Did a corned beef brisket in it last night, shaved it down, and made some kickass grilled Reuben sandwiches.

I love my crock pot and have started using it as a prep step to other recipes. For instance, I have this chicken & sausage jambalaya recipe that calls for cooked chicken and chicken stock as two of the ingredients. So, I put a whole chicken (seasoned) in the crock pot during the day, then near dinner I take off the meat, drain the stock, and pitch the carcass. Whole chicken is so much cheaper than boneless chicken and it saves me the money of buying the chicken stock. I've done this with chicken pot pie, chicken chili, and homemade chicken soup. The crock doesn't make the whole meal, but it does save prep time and $$$.

Thanks to this thread I just picked up some country style pork ribs, polish sausage and sauerkraut. Gonna season it a touch, eat the sausage yet tonight and have the ribs tomorrow when they are falling off the bone.
