Tablet suggestions?

I'm in the market for a new tablet.

I'm thinking about getting the 64GB Surface, with the Touch cover.

I want the windows OS, just for compatibility with certain programs I use.


ATG is probably going to get the 64GB iPad with retina display.



Suggestions?

Does anyone have the Surface?  Are you happy with it?

Pros?  Cons?

I am not sure I would bet on Windows in the tablet market.   I think that they will be gone in a couple years unless they change their pricing strategy.

I would probably get the Samsung Galaxy Tab with Android.

I'm leaning towards an iPad now...

For durability I really am pleased with my ipad.  My grandkids have had Kindles and needed replacements twice (warranty covered, but a pain). 

I also have an iPad mini and it is so much lighter and easy to carry in a purse.

I love my Kindle Fire. 

I have enough tech-info on these things to be dangerous. 

All I know for sure is I love my Kindle Fire.   ;D

Consumer Reports August 2012 has a review of Tablets on page 38.   The Apple iPad and Samsung Galaxy Tab are at the top of every category.

The Kindle is a CR Best Buy in the 7-8 inch screen.  Kindles runs a customized version of Android called Silk.

Well, thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions!

I am currently posting from my new 64GB iPad4.

So far, I love it.  I've installed several farm apps, and weather apps, and I am impressed.  Tomorrow I will be working more with Quickbooks.

As far as the "compatibility" with whatever program you were talking about.   The languages that are out there allow you to create and share among or across the various Operating systems.

Unless it is an old proprietary one, you should be able to use it on any device.
