FYI, UII's in an elderly person is a serious illness, It can cause dehydration, disorientation and fainting.  The bad thing is, they don't realize they have one until it has progressed to the point of some scary symptoms.

Here is a very good link with info, trust me it's not that funny when it's your 87 yr old mom.

I agree with you Cb.  We only hear one side of a "scanner" story.

I agree too.

My dads had a few ambulance rides.

I wouldn't want to joke about them.  We certainly aren't using them as a taxi service.

I have sent a private apology to Caribbean blue for my post.

Hopefully the weather will break soon and I can get outside and away from both the scanner and MonroeTalks!

Another very 'strange' (at least to me) situation out at Fermi.

Frenchtown is running another rescue call right now for a male with chest pains!

Fermi is shut down for a refueling outage I think so they bring in lots of extra workers.  I don't know the exact number but I know in the past it probably approached 1000 outside contract workers (depending on what else they were trying to do) along with their normal crews and their own 'extras' they bring in.

That is still not a high number of people as compared to the rest of Frenchtown Township's population and yet it seems like they've had at least one rescue call out there almost every day since the  outage started.  Normally they probably have one call every couple of months.

Again, not making light of any one individual who may well be very ill, but only the 'strange' circumstances :-\ :-\ :-\

There was yet another rescue at Fermi today...   a man fell...  first dispatch said he was not breathing.  Not sure if I left before they finished or what but I don't recall the outcome.

Summerfield VFD is on their way up toward sidecarflips corner of the world...

Deerfield and N. County Line...

a vehicle about 250 yards out in a field...

At first it sounded like someone ran off the road...  maybe hit one of those big potholes...

but I'm thinking with being that far off the road maybe he was intending to do some 'off roading' and it didn't go so good :( :( :(

I'm thinking that some don't understand the humor in this thread when it occurs

It is more of an inside thing,  and not meant to demean or insult.

It arose in the "industry" as a means to deal with the stresses of the job.

Thanks for that comment Professor...

absolutely has never been my intent to upset anyone...

I've had a couple of PM and email messages giving me a little support...

and comments that hospital ER workers deal with their stress induces jobs in a similar manner...

And then, right on cue...

a rescue call at the YMCA...

a 50 some year old man has passed out!!!

Maybe that's Jan Jay hanging out at the Y again :o :o :o

Right now, any divergence from the road bed or from the packed dirt (on a dirt road) will lead to immediate sinking to the underbody as the wheels vanish into the soup.....

250 yards is a long way to winch a vehicle.

I never did see or hear anything more on this.

There is either some kind of a drill going on out at Fermi this morning or they have one hell of a mess out there today...  oil fires, people having heart attacks...  glad it's shut down for the outage ;) ;) ;)

For the record I just now heard them say it is a drill ;D ;D ;D

Wildfire season is on us and in full force all in one day...

things got started up in Frenchtown at Post and Williams...   a DTE crew went for wires down and found a fire so called Frenchtown.  The fire was about 3/4 mile back off the road so they had to call LMR and Ida for their Gators to even get water back to the scene.  Then the wires were still live so they ended up having to kill power to part of the township to finish putting the fire out.

After that there were fires all around the county.

A bad day for rescue calls too...  everybody must have been getting out and getting active after sitting inside all winter and it got the best of them.

Be careful if you're out and about and especially if you're planning on burning...  Which I am btw!!!
