I heard a call for the city earlier today for a 'gas leak' at Monroe's Original Hot Dog on W. Front.

Does anyone know if they're open?

Unfortunately the term 'gas leak' can be anything from fuel leaking out of a vehicle in the parking lot to someone hit the natural gas meter!

It also reminds me that their 'new' facility in the former Wendy's on Laplaisance has been waiting to open for a long, long, long time!

Thanks...

lunch tomorrow then!!!

I'm trying to think if we've even been down Front Street in the last couple of weeks.  We went Elm a few times looking at the high water in the river and we went Elm last week when we went to see the damage at the end of Godfroy.

My wife fell on the ice before Valentine's Day.  She didn't break anything but she's been sore so we've stayed close to home unless we 'had' to be out.

We'll catch up 8) 8) 8)

I heard a rescue call around 4ish this morning for Erie FD.

A pickup off the road on Telegraph across from Alcatraz with a man just sitting inside.

I wondered if he was a customer and maybe got a late start leaving.

Just as the FD was getting into service the dispatcher cancelled them.  Stated there was a deputy on the scene and rescue wouldn't be necessary but the deputy was requesting the ambulance to continue!!!

I didn't hear anything else but got I've got a hunch someone got a ride in an ambulance and his truck got a ride on a rollback!

Hope she's feeling better soon.  I took a direct hit on my shoulder a couple of years ago not paying attention.  Nothing broken either but after a couple of weeks i had to go to a chriopractor.  All is good now.

She's doing better every day but still has a ways to go.  She was getting out of the truck on the very slippery ice and down she went.  She had read an article just a couple of days before that on 'how to fall on the ice'.  She managed to get her hands down to break her fall before she 'sat' down on the ice.  The pull on her arms went to her sternum and pulled her ribs loose from the cartilage.  It hurts and with her other issues there isn't much she can take.

So, she doesn't like to get out much either but we'll go to Kroger in a bit and get a few things before it snows in the next couple of days.  Then she can hibernate for a couple of more days.

We did make it into Monroe's Original on the way to the lab at the hospital.  I'll bet they all knew where we went for lunch 8) 8) 8)

I did notice what looked like a nice shiny new gas meter on the east side of the building.  Made me wonder if maybe someone hit it with a vehicle :-\ :-\ :-\

The city FD had a 'public assist' call yesterday afternoon.

The caller lives in an upstairs apartment right downtown and they suddenly had water running down from their ceiling!

To me that sounds more like a 'call your landlord' type of call but on the other hand maybe the tenant had already attempted that.

Most rural departments don't get many 'public assist' calls although they're not unheard of.

I guess rural cats even know enough to come down out of trees by themselves ;) ;) ;)

I walked into the house and caught just part of the scanner traffic about the Coast Guard towing a boat into shore for one of the rescue squads to meet up with but never could figure out who it was.

Did anyone else happen to hear or see anything?

Last night just after dark a dispatch to Thorne Brothers Golf Course for Berlin FD.

"several trees on fire"....

Once the first responder was on the scene they stated there was one fire in the area of a shed and a dumpster and another fire nearby in an area of several trees.

Sounded like they were able to extinguish everything with no issues.

Seems suspicious all the way around!!!
