Berry Brown Sugar Pizza
« on: March 23, 2013, 11:51:41 AM »

My wife made the first one about a week ago 'per the recipe' and it turned out fantastic...   we shared half of it with some friends with an 8 yr old daughter and per the Dad "she loooooved it"...

I don't know if that's a good enough endorsement or not ;) ;) ;)

Then just a couple of days ago she 'revised' the recipe and just put on apple slices and a few strawberries.  It wasn't quite as good (compared to the first one) but was still pretty darned good in my opinion...  we dropped some off for the 8 yr old but haven't heard the official 'word' on it yet!

The 2nd one the pizza dough raised (or is that rised) up more which seemed fine but it wasn't quite as juicy...

yes, I like mine juicy ;) ;) ;)

We're thinking it needed different apples...  don't remember now what she used but they were not baking pie apples which is what she will use the next time...  or maybe it just needed a few more of them...  and she forgot to put the frosting on (I think she did that just so I wouldn't get as much sugar but I can't prove it).

Anyway...  give it a try.  She did say she was surprised to find the yeast for the pizza dough at the Kroger store on Monroe street so I know they did have some!

I've got some pictures I'll have to upload to photo bucket and then post later.

I'll put it this way...  if your grandson doesn't like this, I'll come over and pick it up and I'll personally dispose of it for him 8* 8* 8*

I may have to try that pizza.  I make a fruit pizza with a crust from refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough that is tasty, topped with cream-cheese icing and miscellaneous fruit.

I read that one to my wife last night and she's going to try that one too!

I'm digging out pictures of her last 2 creations...  while I'm sitting here at the keyboard with my last cup of coffee and the last slice of the apple pizza...   I've always like pizza for breakfast but this does take it to a new level 8) 8) 8)

This crust 'puffed up' more than the one on the first one...  no idea why...  she made the crust from scratch for both but she may try using one of the pre-made crusts next time to see how that does.

The crust didn't get as dark around where the strawberries were...  must be the juice!!!

I think I have to pass on this one.....too much of a traditional style Pizza fan.  I tried one with pineapples one time....just not my thing.

This is absolutely intended to be a 'dessert dish'...  if you like a nice juicy apple pie you'll like the apple pizza.  My wife did add a few pecans to the top of it!

This is the apple one before it went in the oven!

They were both really good...  I preferred the first one because it was juicier but the 2nd one may have just been 'drier' because the crust puffed up more...

I'm sure you could find some kitchen help to work on one of each...

and the kitchen smelled so good while they were baking (even if it is only for 15 minutes) 8) 8) 8)
