New Business on Telegraph/Newport Rd. ?
« on: November 06, 2013, 08:37:46 AM »

Does anybody happen to know what is being built on the corner of Telegraph and Newport Rd?  Passed by over the weekend and didn't see any signs up as yet (unless I missed it) so wondered if there was any kind of buzz going around on what it could be.

Thanks in advance

I believe it's either a Family Dollar or one of the knock offs.

You're very welcome halo_girl.

I have a 'source' that's usually pretty reliable on new construction projects.

I did check with my source after I saw your post and their reply wasn't real definitive (like they had the factual info) but they did say "it looks like a Family Dollar"...

seems like they're trying to build one of those on about every corner that doesn't already have a pharmacy on it :o :o :o

Great.

Another dollar store that sells cheap Chinese garbage.

Just what we need.

Why don't these places rebuild current vacant buildings, instead of taking vacant land and building new?

Yeah, I know the answer... I just needed to vent a little.   :P

OK, my source is usually pretty accurate although Newport Road is probably getting to the north edge of their 'area'!

I like your lighthouse avatar!!!

Is that the one on Grosse Ile?

They are in the works of adding more to the Lighthouse area.  There will be a "Lighthouse Rose Garden" which will include a custom made granite fountain wrapped by 88 cremation niches (for up to 2 people each) with 8"x8" stainless steel plaques for customized memorialization.  Not sure what else as my pic did not come out clear enough to read everything.

I guess their desired demographic lives in trailer parks?

Not much else in that neighborhood....

If that is where they can pick up some good revenue, why not?

I see Dollar General Stores spread out across many small towns around the Midwest, none that are near a trailer court as far as I've noticed.
