When lawyers are in the wrong or not thinking of everyone, guess what they do?

They try to justify the wrong by giving some long winded response.  ;D

You are exactly right!  I am never wrong, and I won't ever admit it.  Ever.  Oh, and I only think about myself all the time.  (note heavy sarcasm).

Not taken that way, Eaglepride.  :).  I understand the attacks are all in good fun.  Everyone loves a lawyer joke (including me).

Aren't lawyers suppose to stick up for the underdogs and speak for all people?

HAH! That's a good one!

Lawyers speak for whomever hires them.  If it happens to be the underdog, fine.  If not, fine.

When I was a kid I use to walk pretty near two miles to school in the hills of East Tennessee. My oldest siblings and parents walked barefoot farther than that.

I was looking through the new budget for the 07-08 Jefferson schools and I was BLOWN AWAY!

They have a great deal on their transportation services this year. Maybe someone can help me understand....

In the 06-07 school year the budget used $1,417,205 for transporting what they say was 2600 students. That would have been k-6th grade only. Budget Here --->  http://tinyurl.com/2mv492

YET in the 07-08 school year the budget for transportaion is only $874,064. Budget Here --->http://tinyurl.com/39qnw9

Seems like there is some money shifting that is happening here that smells a bit fishy.

543,000 less to transport 700 more kids????

I am just guessing here, but the main reason it could cost less is because they are probably paying the bus drivers less, along with less benefits, meaning insurance, holiday pay, etc. Add that all up and they could be saving quite a bit. The bus drivers are usually the ones that are hit the hardest when it comes to cuts.

Please don't bother us with the facts www.BarackObama.com . Keep digging deeper you will be surprised at what you find. I'm not being negative, just factual! Think about the figures you have quoted then ask how can you increase services drastically while reducing the bussing budget by around 40%. The best way is see the true picture is to review the bus drivers contract and see the actual reductions the district is claiming they accepted and then match them up with the budget and audit. That will give you a good view of the real story.

Actually, I don't think Obama is so far off.

Couple of things.. Yes, I am happy to have buses, I feel bad still for the HS parents.
Why did 7th and 8th get re-instituted.. Why not?  Seems that 5-8 will all be at the MS, so they are all going to the same place.
They will now only be busing to North, Sodt and the MS. Plus now consider that our bus was virtually empty compared to past years.  Sure they should save some dough.

Now I am happy, but I give NO credit to our adminsitration for this move.  Credit the transportation employees.  Now, let's hear the real story.
I can tell you if things had stayed as they were going, there may have been yet another recall campaign all the way to the top.

But for this year I can at least get to work earlier since I don't have to drive kids to school!

Had the first recall not taken place Jefferson would have had a balanced budget to incoming revenue 4 years ago? There would still be over $9 million in the savings account, Fitzpatrick would not have a job at Jefferson and there would be no fear of another millage increase. But most of all the students would have been the districts top priority, not the teachers union. Now we watch the current administration staggering along trying to implement the exact same policies of the board members they chased out of office.  It matters not now, the teachers union has sucked the bank dry, now they will again press for a mileage or take substantial decreases in pay and benefits. What do you think they will do and what about the $3.8 million dollar deficit or is the budget finally balanced to incoming revenue?

I have a feeling we will see more to this story!
