Do I think I'm better than those that have less command of the English language?  Absolutely not.  Are people like Monique, ducksoup, lilly and frenchfry more intelligent than those who choose to demonstrate that they can't even write a simple sentence?  Many on here don't want to hear it, but the answer is: Yes!

So, where would this put Ash Williams on your intelligence scale?

Hey - they never corrected Ash Williams!

Your right!

I guess language correction is another partisan issue?

Actually he was trying to hide his patterns so we didn't know his dual ID
Kinda smart except it didn't work well...

I thought I'd jump on it before one of the libs get the chance.

Strange... It doesn't make me feel any more intelligent than you.

Maybe that's a liberal thing, I don't know.

You're correct Livewire.

I blew that one.

Thanks for the gentle correction!

You did know what I meant though?

I have to say this thread if having a beneficial affect effect on my English language skills.

I think we should keep helping each other constructively improve!

 ;D

Quote
Among the pairs of words writers often confuse, affect and effect might be the most perplexing, perhaps because their meanings are so similar. Affect, derived from affectus, from the Latin word afficere, “to do something to, act on,” is easily conflated with effect, borrowed from Anglo-French, ultimately stemming from the Latin word effectus, from efficere, “to bring about.”
