The area's on both sides of the "canal" took some damages from the nearly 7 inches of rain...

Interesting to hear of sink holes,  probably wash outs vs what they have in Florida!

This one is my favorite...   makes it hard to fight a fire when you have to dig out the hydrant first.  I wonder if the mains still have any pressure on them?

The marker bar sticking up is used in areas of deep snow to make it easier and quicker to find the hydrants in an emergency.  When we lived in Midland County the FD would go out in the fall and install them and then in the spring go back out and retrieve them.  Looks like they leave them on year around in Houghton.

It flooded in Houghton in 1912 too...

I suspect there will be rush of people applying for their Michigan Enhanced Driver's Licenses ;) ;) ;)

I also suspect US Customs will be doubling down on car searches!

We were down to 'Luckey' one day last summer and drove by the site just to see what was going on.  Lots of excavation equipment there although nothing was happening the day we were there.

I wonder how much of the radioactive 'dust' will work it's way out of the trailers and land along I-75 in Monroe County?

Just in case anyone is keeping score this is yet another site that was mishandled when it was active and now the taxpayers are on the hook to clean it up.

I wonder who will have to pay to clean up 75 in a few years :o :o :o

Brush Berilium...   that's it.  I couldn't think of the name last night.

Yes, it was a 'quasi' government project.

Current clean up costs could have been minimized or not ever required if they would have done a better job of disposing of wastes back while it was operating.

That seems to have been the trend with almost all corporations.  Run the business unitl it's no longer needed and file bankruptcy and let the people pay to clean up the mess.  Toledo if full of those projects and i suspect Monroe too

Or if they are REALLY a responsible Corporate Citizen that is too healthy to go bankrupt - they sit on the property until they are ready to go bankrupt.

That looks to be the fate of the Monroe Ford plant.

yep and the way big corporations do business Ford probably doesn't own the building or property.  They just leased it from a shell corporation.

That's possible I suppose, many corporations do that for tax reasons and lower debt.........I guess if that is not acceptable then the Republican controlled Congress should act on it.

Brother.......we really liveinafuckedup world!

https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/restaurant-refused-serve-sarah-huckabee-sanders-family-170335133.html

Yes, we certainly do.  While I don't talk about it much on here I'm telling everyone that at some point in the not to distant future, the lid is going to blow right off the liberal stewpot and all hell is going to break loose.  Just like the Peter Fonda comments and the cartoon about killing ICE Agents and now the cover of Time magazine depicting what turned out to be a totally bogus scenario.  All building up to a civil war and it's coming to a neighborhood near you.

The loony left has nothing left but acting like a'holes and will, at some point in the not too distant future, start to resort to violence.  How it plays

Why the gun grabbers are so intent on grabbing the guns.  The gun grabbers are a segment of the loony left.

I already know where I stand, hope you do too.

Enough said on that.
