I agree with Prof.......but beware of folks on here who once were Firefighters for the City, most are semi pro golfers or business owners who hold a grudge of folks like MN that thinks the City can actually do no wrong.  I'm relatively new as well, but it is becoming more and more obvious to me that there is some damn good pot in this town.

And I am afraid you may have been partaking of some when you drafted this masterpiece Fuzz, cause I am not following your thought process.....

And that surprises me none in the least.

I think I may have had a few glasses of scotch that evening.

1) I did nothing to warrant the banishment, it's political.

There is one other negative aspect no one remembered to mention.  If you bought a house in Detroit Beach, you'd be living close to French Fry.

But in a positive note you could walk to Detroit Beach Pizzeria to get a large Deluxe and a pitcher, and not have to worry about a DUI on the way home.

Of course you might still get picked up for public intoxication.....

Too many pitchers and a long walk home equals the chance of an indecent exposure ticket. ;D

Hey everyone.

I'm considering accepting a new job in Flat Rock, which would be a relocation from Rockford Illinois. I was poking around realty and city data websites and found that Detroit Beach looked pretty interesting for me.

In particular, there is one really cheap fixer upper on 9th St that I wouldn't mind doing the fixin uppin on. So, my questions are:

-- It appears that there is a homeowners association. I wasn't able to find its borders or dues. Does anyone know that?

-- I see there is drama between the DBA and DBBC (I'm learning the relevant acronyms! Woo!) Its not horrible is it? I mean, I can move in and join that club if I have a boat and people are friendly, right?

-- It looks like the area floods. How badly? Does everyone get flooded basements every year? Does the flooding damage first floor rooms in houses?

Thank you very much!!

Jeremy

I'd like to dedicate a song to Jeremy on his decision to move from Illinois...

regardless of where he ends up in Michigan...

I've been through Detroit Beach area and spent very little time there but I think there are far better places to live in Monroe county than that place.

I grew up in the beach areas.  Some places are nicer than others, just like anywhere else.  Depends where on 9th Street the property is.  There really hasn't been a flooding issue in many years.  Most people that didn't grow up in the beaches feel that they're the equivalent of South Central L.A.  The mayflies are creepy, but they're not around all summer.  Good luck.
