Something going in just north of the Marathon on S. Dixie!
« on: October 17, 2014, 11:57:29 AM »

Looks like a commercial project of some type going on in there just the last few days.  All the trees have been knocked down and the lot has been leveled and lots of stone hauled in.

Anyone heard anything about something new going in there?

It's pretty obvious now they are incorporating the brick home on the corner with whatever business they're working on.  They're cutting in a big doorway on the south side of the home (facing the vacant part of the parcel) and they've built a huge ramp and deck!

I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's going to be another used car lot ??? ??? ???

They finished their paving in just a few days...   there's a sign up in the front window...   looks like the big wooden deck is all set to go....  but the 'hole in the wall' where it appears they're putting a door is still boarded up!  They've dumped a pile of dirt by the drive that appears to be their landscaping but they haven't done much more with that.  And, they haven't put up an 'open soon' sign either ;) ;) ;)

They have about a dozen cars lined up across the back of the lot...  backed in...  but they were all covered with snow yesterday so apparently they're not open yet either :-\ :-\ :-\

They're open and lots of activity...

"buy here, pay here, no credit check required"...   what a concept ;D ;D ;D

They're finally finishing the landscaping along the Dixie that they started last fall.

That is certainly getting to be Monroe's used car 'strip'!!!

I had a few minutes one night this week so I drove through and looked over their inventory.  I didn't see a price on a single vehicle...   but rather "Buy this car (truck) for $500 down and $100 a week.

I guess that works for some people :-\ :-\ :-\

The name of the place is 'GO Auto Sales' if I remembered it right.

At $100 a week, those could turn out to be some pretty expensive cheap cars.
I'll bet those payment contracts are at least 36 months if not 48.

Sounds to me like a borderline consumer rip off. I haven't seen the cars they have, but those kind of lots generally have higher mileage, mid-line cars, that should be priced in the $5,000 - $10,000. range.

That looked about right for what I saw the night I was there driving around.  The truck that caught my eye was similar to ones I've seen lately for around $4500.

I'm sure many people would consider it a 'ripoff' and yet there are other people who consider it an 'opportunity' other car sales places don't give them.

Kind of like the 'payday' loan places or the title loan places (do they have those in Michigan?).

A $ 100 a WEEK? You could do better at any bank or credit union.

'If' you have decent credit that's absolutely true!!!

But there are a lot of people out there with not so decent credit...

or maybe only have the $500 down payment.

I'm sure not saying these type of places are best for everyone but there are a (probably surprising) number of places that they are good for.

I see that since this place opened the car lot with very similar vehicles that was just south of the S. Monroe St. AutoZone store seems to have either moved or closed up.  Anyone know if maybe this was the 'prior' operation of this one?

That place moved to Telegraph Rd just North of Heiss Rd.    Bad move never see anyone looking at cars there.

Anyone with bad credit certainly isn't going to have $ 400.00 a month for car payments or they could pay their bills.

As a rule I don't buy used cars but if I did, I'd run a car-fax and see if it was a Monroe County car because you know the suspension is shot. ;D
