How are the roads out your way today?
Have no idea, other than walking the big black dog this morning, I haven't been outside but looking out on the back deck, I'd say there is at least 3" on the railing and it's coming down at a pretty good clip.
I don't believe it will get bad until this evening when the temps go into the cellar. That is when the caca will hit the fan.
I see NWS says 4-7. Nothing beats a nice fall snowstorm and yes, the unharvested beans are taking a dive ti the ground. Row croppers get the triple whammy this year. soaked spring = late planting, wet fall = delayed harvest and now early snowfall = beans and possibly corn on the ground. Don't combine well that way...
Problem is simple. Time to quit farming or go bankrupt. Payments on fancy new equipment don't stop because the year sucks and crop insurance only averages 35%, not enough to make payments anyway.
Heard our illustrious MCRC finally made it out here about 2pm. Par for the course I'd say. Probably out of salt too because they closed the salt shed on Ida west. Heard 223 is a disaster as is 23. Ferrovail or whatever their name is, made ONE pass this morning and that was it. Off to a good start I'd say, but so is the MCRC. Bang up service my butthole. Lets see, MCRC starts at 7AM. By the time they have their customary doughnuts and hot coffee and go jack off for a while, they might get out of the barn by say 10AM, giving them the benefit of the doubt. 4 hours to get from Telegraph north of Dunbar to the west side of 23... Must drive awfully slow.. I keep forgetting, it's a union shop so they have to take a break every couple hours too. Don't want them physically exhausted do we?
So, to answer your question in a sentence...
Terrible but expected no less.
