Or maybe they want them within the city limits so they can squeeze them by paying city tax if they work where they live.

I'm guessing that's why they didn't suggest to place them in Idaho - where the HQ's for the placement agency listed was...

Actually in the City of Detroit they get you for taxes if you work there, or if you live there - assuming you HAVE a job - which many of the residents don't bother with.

It's all good.

The economy is stellar.

Obama said so.

I'm not sure that's true. Do you have a link?

But I've read of Walmart employees that had to go on public assistance to make ends meet...so if WM couldn't handle paying a decent wage...then maybe they should close their doors.

I'm just surprised a rightie didn't blame a wage increase to every other business that's having issues.

Oh so Walmart didn't say that was the reason for that specific closure...it was just speculation.

But that wouldn't explain the other 268 Walmart stores being closed.

Of course one could either believe the official reasons Walmart posted:

Quote
In October 2015, the company said an active review of the portfolio was underway to ensure assets were aligned with strategy. Today’s action follows a thorough review of Walmart’s nearly 11,600 worldwide stores that took into account a number of factors, including financial performance as well as strategic alignment with long-term plans. In total, the impacted stores represent less than 1 percent of both global square footage and revenue.

“Actively managing our portfolio of assets is essential to maintaining a healthy business,” said Doug McMillon, president and CEO, Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. “Closing stores is never an easy decision, but it is necessary to keep the company strong and positioned for the future. It’s important to remember that we’ll open well more than 300 stores around the world next year. So we are committed to growing, but we are being disciplined about it.”
