That is one of my biggest problems with some of the union people, is that they are not smart enough to think for them selves and all they think is that the union wants then to vote for so and so and they follow blindly just because they say so. 

its funny...i go to vfw's and american legions and alot of them are against the war...sometimes i bring up politics...and they say they are going to vote for clinton lol how sad is that???


they dont even understand. the union they work for says vote democratic and they jump like a bunch of frogs.

Well I know with Macsteel when it was north star the voted down the Steel Workers Union many times.  First time the UAW comes in it gets voted in.  I have no proof but I firmly believe that they wanted the UAW in there because they wanted to be like the big 3.  They wanted to get the $30 an hour pay, the fully funded health care, they heard the stories of people going to work and getting paid 8 hours and only working 4.

I agree that unions were needed back in the day and the need was brought on by the idiot owners and managers of such businesses.  I also think that if left to their own devices the current group of idiot managers and owners would try to squeeze more profit by stepping on their workers.  It is a shame that management has not really learned their lesson.

Having said that, I believe that unions - as they currently operate - are even dumber than the managers. The thugs and crooks who eventually took over the unions got some power and just like management, corrupted it and ruined the whole deal. 

My friend who used to work at Ford Motor tells many tales about how he could sneak off to sleep during his shift, stand at his machine for an hour until the proper union classification came to his station to repair a simple problem that he could do in 1 minute...but was not allowed to.  There are so many examples of union mismanagement, corruption and stupidity that we really cannot afford unions as they are now.

As management fails to understand that treating and paying employees fairly (although some employees will never have enough) the union ignores the basic fact that the job they are reresenting is only as good as the quality and profitability of the employer...who they are trying to bankrupt.

Go figure.

Nosh, you are right on the money on this.

I am conducting an experiment with/on my aunt. Her political views have been far left for many years now. I challenged her to listen to a conservative talk show from Pitsburg. ( she is listening to "Quinn and Rose", online) I told her that when she listens to stop and make notes of what they say, even when it pisses her off. Then to get on the computer and look for the proof to back up their statements.

She understands that I am not trying to sway her opinion, but show her that there is another side of the coin than what the unions, and bulk of the media have told her.

This has been going on for about a month, and I have seen that her opinion has taken a sharp turn to the right.

It is amazing what happens when people start to do their own reasearch, instead of taking what is told to them as gospel.

right on...but dont get me wrong...i am not union bashing...i was just using them as an example of how people get so twisted up and want to vote for someone who has nothing to do with how they themselves believe.

what people need to do is...write down questions that are important to themselves...as many as they can...then look at the candidates...in a realistic view...weed out the crap they spread then come up with their own conclusion on who to really vote for.

dont let someone else tell you how to vote...especially any group.
