I was always a big fan of theirs......loved that combination of Southern Rock mixed with strong hints of the Blues.

Whipping Post, Sweet Melissa, Statesboro Blues, and Ramblin' Man just to name some of their bigger hits.

This one seems appropriate for today:

After I mentioned thinking of Delta Dawn in reference to our very own NewDawn earlier today I've had the song stuck in my head!

Several artists have done the song but my favorite has always been Tanya Tucker's version:

Tanya Tucker - Delta Dawn

She was only 13 when she broke into the big time with it and it has probably been her defining song throughout her career.

Bye Bye Baby! Alan Longmuir dead at 70

LONDON (AP) — Alan Longmuir, a founding member of the Bay City Rollers who played multiple instruments, including bass guitar and keyboards, has died in Scotland. He was 70.

I'm not sure how widely known it was that the Bay City Rollers were actually named for Bay City, Michigan.  I was working there (and living nearby) in the 70s so it was an often discussed topic locally.

I guess this is a fitting 'final tribute'!!!

I remember when Yellow Submarine debuted and I really didn't think much of it although a lot of my friends were excited about it.  I sure didn't think we'd be 'celebrating' it 50 years later and I sure didn't think I'd be posting about it on an internet forum.

This one pops into my mind every so often...

I preferred the Credence Clearwater Revival version but then again I liked most everything they did.

Jeremiah was a bullfrog

I always wonder how Google and YouTube come up with some of their searches.

I have YouTube on 'auto' play so it picks another song after the first one finishes.

After 'Jeremiah' was over it immediately started an off the wall version of 'Puff the Magic Dragon'!

When 'Puff' first came out parents were going wild trying to keep their children from playing or listening to it because of what they assumed it meant.

I loved the beat plus there was a very fast boat on the lake named after the song.

There was also a car at the dragstrip named 'Der Spitten Fire Loud En Boomer' or something like that.  It was from down at Frankenmuth so it may have been the chicken people ;D ;D ;D

From Peter, Paul and Mary...
