So a few weeks ago my friends decide to check out the "new" Fox Club. I had never been in there before, I just knew it had a shady reputation from years past.

So we go in and the place looks nice... hardwood floors, single-color paint ont he walls (very trendy), huge TV screen. The bar selection sucked though... Bud, Bud Light, Heineken... bleh.

Anyways as we were wandering around we noticed a little loft area upstairs. So we go up, to see the view of the river from there, and this guy comes up and introduces himself as the owner of the restaurant we accidentally stumbled into.

Apparently this guy runs "Jay's Smokehouse", which is a new restaurant that's based wihin the Fox Club. Nice guy, the menu looked delicious (pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ ribs, home-made BBQ sauce), but we didn't eat because we had other plans.

Has anyone eaten there yet?

Sounds interesting..... never been but my classmates went about two weeks ago. I couldn't join them dangit. Now they are going to have to go again so I can go! Sounds great!

We did eat there got the ribs wanted  beans as a side (that was not a offer).The meal was a take out took longer then i thought it should.Not much taste as in bbq and over cooked.

was mr p's at that gas station on telegraph??

if so they closed. they did have good ones though.

Mr.P's moved out to Dundee the old Scotts deli and pizza, green buliding on your left just before the train tracks and before you get to the village itself. Awesome barbeque and their breakfast menu is awesome also. They were located at that gas station on Telegraph before it closed. Go there and check it yourself you will not be disappointed. It is a shame Monroe can't keep businesses like this it's worth the drive.

The reason they moved was the closing of the gas station.And the dundee location opened for them.

I haven't been to Fox Club in years. It used to be in our regular barhopping rotation, but that was years ago. I remember, even then, the place seemed trendy, compared to dives like The Dump, and Whistlestop.

Mr. P's was already in the process of opening the one in Dundee when the one here got shut down. They were going to have the 2 stores open at once.

I had heard a rumor that The Fox Club had closed before due to lack of handicap access. Does anyone know anything about that? I can't imagine they installed an elevator in there.

They tell me out at Mr.P's that they are still looking for a place to open up in Monroe, he said they were looking at the old China buffet next to Big Lot. I for one hope they do cause their Bar-B-Q is yummy.
