Please take a moment at some point this weekend to reflect on those who 'gave all'.

Many things I enjoy about Memorial Day.....one is the endless old military related movies on the cable channels, and every once in a while a war documentary that I had never seen before.

Started the festivities here yesterday.......the Puddin' Pit got opened up, and we had an assortment of burgers and marinated chicken breast pieces from House of Meats in Toledo.

It gets harder and harder to find someone selling poppies for Memorial Day.
it was always or mostly wives of WWII vets who did the leg work.

I've seen them advertised online but also read something that very little of the funds raised from the online sales actually makes it back to benefit veterans.

The Midland paper has some old photos of past Memorial Days posted this weekend.

This is a picture of Matt Urban who actually lived and worked in Monroe for many years.

The past few years I have gotten mine at the Kroger entrance.  Personally I like that better than when they used to stand in the major intersections.  I am surprised more people haven't gotten hurt that way.

I saw this article a few days ago but haven't had time to post it.

I'm not sure I want to be hanging on if the wind catches the flag..
