Recall petition in London Township
« on: May 04, 2018, 10:25:57 PM »

Read in the MN that the board of canvassers is going to have a hearing on the wording of a petition to remove Gary Tepke (Livvewire) as supervisor and 2 more of the London Township board.

Read the article and it appears to me that the person attempting to get the petition formalized is harboring a grudge.  From what I see, being a township supervisor is a thankless, low paying job where you get to deal with whiners every day.

Not something I'd want to do.  One, I don't have the temperment and two, I hate whiners.

While the petitioner has every right to try to recall Gary and his board he also has a responsibility to be fair and accurate. Unfortunate the language rules of recall efforts do not require either of those factors. The petition only has to be understandable--not necessarily accurate or truthful.

So the petition can say they voted for marijuana in London township when in fact they voted to study and prepare possible language to deliberate about at a later date. That my friends is what good government officials do. They do research and discuss the pros and cons openly and then make a decision.

Hopefully the voters in London will see thru this obvious personal vendetta and keep the board that they elected and encourage them to keep doing their jobs openly and with the citizens best interests in mind.

I see you fol, lowed up on ii too.  After I did, I thought it stunk.  Wonder if this is the same guy who put fencing in Live's field last year???  There are obviously some hard feelings up there.

One issue the petitioner is having is London don't chloride roads because of a lack of funding.  Chloride is double that of brine and I don't believe London Twp., is flush with money anyway.  He also cited a lack of transparency with Live doing the lawn maintenance and snow plowing at the township hall but no mention was made of bidding an I bet Live was the lowest bidder.

I know Gary pretty well and I have to say that in all my dealings with him in the past, he's always been straight up and honest.  I don't believe the petitioner is being either.

Just so you guys are aware, we went to the clarity and factuality hearing yesterday. The Board of Commissoners threw out all three petitions for lack of clarity. I’m almost positive another petition is already in the mail.

I would like to clarify a couple of things...

1. The article that Dean originally posted was inaccurate information. The MEN, once receiving an email from Gary Taepke, posted a correction in the paper... on the second page, where no one would really see it unless they read every inch of the newspaper. I am VERY disappointed in the MEN.

2. As SCF assumed, Gary was awarded the mowing and plowing contracts by a unanimous vote of the Board of Trustees (he abstained from all discussion and voting) because he was the lowest bid in a sealed bid process. Also, let me make a note here - Gary had those two contracts with the Township long before he was elected.

3. Regarding the chloride: the Township has not applied chloride to the roads in about 10 years. They started using brine because it was cheaper. The reason the Board didn’t apply brine to the roads last year was because they were forced to take on debt from the previous board, and were also left with an unbalanced budget. The first fiscal year of this new board, they balanced our budget and now going into the second fiscal year, we have the money to apply brine to the roads this summer. Fun fact: The guy who filed the recall petitions lives on a paved road.

4. I’m positive this recall is linked to the stakes in Gary’s fields. This is ALL personal. The other two members of the Township Board voted the same as those trying to get recalled, yet they did not receive a recall petition. We’ve also encountered someone trespassing on our property recently because we have some things missing from the yard. These cowards can’t battle him with words or intelligence, they have to destroy our property and attack in other ways, so as to not be seen.

During the hearing yesterday, the petitioner kept getting coached by another resident from our Township, Edward Giraud Jr. That particular resident has made it clear he has a problem with Gary and the other two who they were trying to recall. He has many puppets working for him, doing the dirty work.

I know eventually his day will come. I just hope I’m around to see it.

Hey everybody!!!

Just to show how ridiculous this is, when I was going to submit my mowing quote, I told everyone in a meeting how much I was charging. Then we placed an ad in the paper looking for sealed bids. I met with a couple of them, showed them what needed to be cut, and I TOLD THEM how much I was cutting it for.
I was STILL the lowest bid in all the sealed bids.

Was the Board supposed to hire someone else for more money???

The idiots behind the recall have a personal axe to grind, because I am forcing them to comply with the ordinance, regarding the ponds they want to put in.

Yeah, last Fall, a certain individual had his minions put hundreds of steel stakes in my soybean and corn fields, with the intention of destroying my combine. They succeeded.  Retaliation for my actions as Supervisor, because I’m forcing everyone to follow the rules. It basically destroyed my combine. I bought a new one. Damages are in the tens of thousands of dollars - almost six figures. This is a 20 year felony.

And the parties involved WILL answer for their crimes.

We fired our Assessor and Building Inspector, because they were not doing their jobs. The Building Inspector was blatantly allowing violations to occur, with certain people. He issued permits for NEW HOMES to people without a set of prints, or any type of site plan. Not only ordinance violations, but this is against State law. He “inspected” ponds that had obvious violations, and he approved them as is.

There’s a new Sheriff in town.

Keep your eye on the news. There’s a big hammer about to come crashing down.

HARD.

If you have an ordinance, enforce it.  Everyone should be treated the same - you all have to follow the rules.  The building inspector sounds like a helluva liability.  When an administration comes in and actually enforces the ordinance, the whining increases 100 fold but that's part of the job.  Keep at it, Live.

If no one is happy, that probably means you are doing a good job.

Like thee old saying goes..  You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time but you cannot fool an astute Township Supervisor.

Too bad the job don't pay what the level of grief is.

I see their petition was approved, and now lets see if they get all the signatures.

It's probably less hazardous collecting signatures than spiking a field.
