Timeline on Iran...
« on: June 18, 2019, 12:10:51 PM »

I wonder how long it will be before we get militarily involved with Iran.  Don't believe we should we need to quit babysitting the rest of the civilized world, let them deal with it but I'm sure it won't play that way.

Iran is going to break the EU treaty for enriched uranium this week.

I look at Iran like NK but Iran is bombing ships.  Rocket man just launches short range rockets.

Not our tankers.  Why get involved at all.

It's probably that NATO thing we signed on.  We do all the dirty work so the EU can keep their hands clean.. If the crude oil was coming here then I'd say maybe we should escort the tankers thru the straight and blow everything out of the water that gets near them.  But since it isn't we should stand off.

Just an unmanned drone.  US says it was over International waters, Iran says it wasn't.  Who is really telling the truth here?

We don't need to get militarily involved with Iran.  In fact, we need to get out of the Middle East entirely and deal with issues here like the Southern Border.  Factions in the Middle East have been fighting with each other for a thousand years.  Let them kill each other, we don't need to be involved and put US military people in harm's way.

Trump pledged to get out of the Middle East anyway.

Far as the tankers in the Straits, neither was an American Flagged ship so let the respective countries deal with it.

Having said that though, one tanker was Japanese flagged and we have a treaty with Japan that states we will militarily defend Japan if necessary so in that respect, to honor that treaty, I guess we would be involved.

Why the situation with NK could be crucial if NK shot rockets over Japan and one hit the Japanese mainland, we could very well be drawn into a war with NK.

Treaties caused the start of WW2. Lets not have a WW3.  Iran is a loose cannon, much like NK.  I believe strict sanctions are the best bet.  Starve the country and they will come to the realization that playing games can be costly to your economy.

Just a spy drone, no human life involved.  Not a big deal or a reason to get into a military conflict with some deranged idiots.

I tend not to believe either side here.  US is likey to venture into Iranian territory if they think they can.  If this was the first episode then a foreign county should have identified the situation and said it can't happen again, but that isn't the way countries like Russia and Iran operate. Russia shoots civilian aircraft down with hundreds of people on board.

Like I said, we have no business being there and putting American troops in harm's way.  Hopefully,m Trump will see that.  Fingers crossed here.

But do we owe anything to Japan protecting their rights going thru the straight?

Problem with Japan is, we have a treaty with them that says we will protect them in case of aggression so I guess because the one tanker was Japanese flagged we are involved whether we want to be or not.

We need to quit playing 'Big Brother to other countries.
