So, how are the roads this fine snowy morning?
« on: November 11, 2019, 10:33:19 AM »

Seen any salt trucks?  Any at all?  How are the state roads this fine morning?  I bet they suck big time.

I'll be staying home today, no point in venturing out and slipping and sliding on untreated roads.

Gonna be an interesting winter I'd say.

Supposed to get cold tonight.  That means the maybe wet roads will glaze over and become skating rinks.  Might be better to stay home and avoid a wreck.   lol

Washtenaw, Wayne, and Oakland Counties all had trucks out working the primary and secondary roads.

All passable.

I will settle for all students taking a few moments today to do something kind for a neighbor, friend, family member, or stranger. Enjoy these opportunities as they are random and too few and far between. Enjoy

It sure feels like we are on a cooling trend.....  not a warming.

I275 North was two track on the right two lanes this morning with the LH lane snow covered.   When I hit the Wayne county line all three lanes were cleared.

I think the main roads down south have just melted. I don't see any evidence of a plow.  At noon Telegraph from the state line north was mostly slush and ice.  I expected the new crew would at least get to Telegrph by noon.  The east west roads are difficult where they are shaded.   Ice sill on the roads.

Wayne County might be corrupt as **** - but at least they clear the roads.

What does that say about Monroe County?

Ferrovial is a real 'bang up' operator, no doubt.  Even worse that the MCRC is there could be worse.

Just wait until next spring because they are responsible for road maintenance too.  Think about how big the potholes can get before they patch them......  If they ever do.

Good job MDOT, good job.

Anyone need the MDOT hot line number?  if they even answer the phone?  Highly unlikely.  888 296 4546...... ;D

Looked up what they are paying for plow drivers in Newport, Mi., How about $22.50 per hour with full benefits.  Better than McDees....... ;D

No.  'Duties include maintenance and changing plow blade's.'  Sounds like a plan.  Laying in the snow changing wear edges on plows on the side of the road.  See they are looking for a superintendent as well.  Always good to have your staffing in order prior to going in 'business'.  I bet they are getting real quality people.....  not.

Superintendent would be perfect for you.

You could show them how to change that blade in a snow bank on the side of the road with only hand tools.

All still there under the professional direction of Bronco McKart.  MCRC never lays anyone off, they 'make work' for them like any good union shop does.

Interesting comments on various social media sites about Ferrovail and their 'stellar' performance.  None are very nice either.  Like the one by a resident on 125 to the tune of....  "Been 2 days and I have not seen one salt truck or plow come by'  was in the MN today...

I went up 23 this morning to AA. Saw a Ferrovail truck cleaning the berms.  First one I saw ever...  White single axle Barnyard Buick (International) with a salt box on the back.

But then I didn't see any road commission trucks either.

Not my thing.  I have a hard enough time changing the wear edge on my 10 foot Lenawee County plow.  Too heavy for this old man to manhandle.
