Ok, Who's ready for Christmas???
« on: August 15, 2007, 07:37:23 AM »

It is right around the corner now! School will be starting soon and well...

Who's tired of this hot weather, cutting lawns and all the bugs???
Who's ready for the shoveling snow, cold feet and bad roads??
Not to mention the bills that rack up for gas heat, electric and christmas shopping.

Not me....That cold weather is getting to me as I get older!

I am NOT ready to close up my pool, or start getting up earlier to drop my daughter off at school on my way in to work.

Christmas?  I have not even started school shopping yet.... yikes!

I have loved the sunshine this summer, we finally were able to get adequate use of the pool, first time in many seasons,

I'm not ready for it to be over yet....

Now, for the Christmas question... I am responsible for the planning at work.  I have to buy for approximately 6 disabled adults, my closet is full of gifts.  I have the open house scheduled, a sleigh/team of Clydesdales lined up, Santa and Mrs. Claus booked... so I say..."bring it on"   ;)

I have to say that I am not ready for summer to be over, yet Christmas is sneeking in the back of my mind occasionally.  I love each season for it's own beauty and what it brings, yes I am sentimental.
Summer has a way to go yet, but yes I am looking forward to all winter brings.

Back to school and Christmas?  As far as Back to school goes, it’s like that commercial where the kid’s are kind of moping around while a parent is going all over the store, loading up the cart with school supplies, while they are playing the Christmas song; “It’s the most wonderful time of the year ….”
One of my favorites. Which my son, does not like. (Ha, Ha) ;D

Me, I’ll be retuning back to the classroom again this fall. I started last year  at MCCC after being out of school for 26 years. Yes, I did graduate but, I am now disabled and cannot do what I was used to doing so the VA is giving me a chance to do something, which I am grateful for very much.

We are both set and ready for school.

As far as Christmas, Will there be snow on the ground this year, or rain??  We’ll just have to wait and see.

But, I am now in my usual Christmas spirit ………BAH! HUM BUG!

The sad thing is, it was in the back of my mind yesterday that Christmas is "right around the corner" and then I depressed wondering whether we'd even be able to afford presents for the kids this year. I know, I know, Christmas isn't all about gifts, but how do you explain that to a 3-year-old who is already excited about "what santa is going to bring her and her brother?" With rising gas prices and the lack of good paying jobs in Michigan, I have a feeling it's going to be a "Dollar Store Christmas" this year.  :(

Having said that, I am going to hang on to summer as long as I can!!

Well said.  I have the same nightmare, wondering where I am going to get the money for Christmas and which bills are not going to get paid so we can buy them.
Single income family is definitely not the way to go especially if you have been used to a higher standard in the past.

OMG not Christmas already!!!

I hate the snow, being cold, seasonal depression.....

I'm freaking out about school clothes and supplies, I'm really glad that we have a few months to go.   :)

Although, I AM ready for the children to go back to school!  They have eaten me out of house and home this summer LOL!

I'm not ready for Christmas, but I am ready for fall. I love the crunching leaves, the cool morning and the decorations that are up. I was recently at Hallmark near the old Farmer Jack. They had Christmas decorations in one part of the store and Halloween in another.

Ahh, the plague of commercialism...drink it up boys...

Personally I hate Christmas...not so much the idea of the holiday but the commercialisation of it...It's enough to make the baby Jesus cry...!

If it were up to me we would all be enjoying a nice pagan feast of roast boar around the yule log washed down with some good rum and cider, nothing better on a cold winters day...

remember a bottle of rum makes a nice stocking stuffer...!

Christmas is always funky! kind of expensive and lots of people all worked up, but anyway I am posting to ask will anyone be making homemade Christmas gifts?

Have you made any in the past and if so what were the hits and misses?

Someone mentioned it being a Dollar Store Christmas this year, and I have given expensive gifts and Dollar Store gifts side by side and the Dollar Store gift is usually the bigger hit with the kids, so don't worry so much about giving less expensive gifts.

I've always felt that I needed to spend the same amt on each person. I usually spend the same amt on the parents, siblings, and their kids and others.
