Apparently there are plans to build a Starbuck's and new medical/dental  building at the southeast corner of Telegraph  and Mall Roads. Two one-store buildings, one behind the other, are proposed for this corner, with the buildings to be open/available in the fall of 2008.

Has anyone else heard about these plans?

(I stumbled across the info while doing some other web research. Here is a link detailing the project's plans:  http://www.loopnet.com/xNet/MainSite/Listing/Profile/Profile.aspx?LID=15557512&StepID=101&RecentlyViewed=true&ItemIndex=1&PgCxtDir=Down

Starbucks has always had the position, when approached about a Monroe store, that the area demographics cannot support a Starbucks.  When I lived in Monroe, we campaigned and petitioned Starbucks to no avail.

Anyone get out to Briton, there is a new coffee shop opening there. The building is log style and looks really cool. I can't recall the name. I want to say Grizzly Coffee...

There is one of those on Sibley just west of Telegraph. It is a drive through only.

SAN DIEGO - A Superior Court judge on Thursday ordered Starbucks to pay its California baristas more than $100 million in back tips that the coffee chain paid to shift supervisors.

Saying baristas were entitled to $86 million in back tips plus interest, San Diego Superior Court Judge Patricia Cowett also issued an injunction preventing Starbucks’ shift supervisors from sharing in future tips.

Cowett said the practice was a violation of a state law prohibiting managers and supervisors from sharing in employee tips.

Kind of interesting.  5 pages of replies, and not ONE anwer to the question if anyone else has heard the rumor of the Starbucks comiing in or not.  Everyone gives their opinion (which is interesting to read) but no one answered.  Just a little insight.
