Hero: Navy SEAL Posthumously Awarded Medal of Honor

SAN DIEGO, California - To his Navy SEAL buddies, Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor will always be known as "Mikey," a fun-loving 25-year-old guy who had "a little mischievous look on his face." It's a face they'll never forget. On Sept. 29, 2006, while on a mission in Ramadi, Iraq, Monsoor and other members of a Navy SEAL sniper team were within a moment of death. An insurgent had tossed a grenade into their hideout, hitting Monsoor in the chest before bouncing to the floor. In an instant, Monsoor was on the grenade, using his body to shield his comrades from the blast.

I have heard before that a military person will die for his troop in a heart beat as they get so close in such stressfull situations.

I do remember in Basic Training having some discussion on doing this..

I'm sure it is something they can not teach...

One would only have a split second to make a decision...

but the basics are "dive on and I die...   don't dive on and I die) (along with everyone else)...

always remember.....  WAR is HELL !!!

May God always find us living in full value and full recognition of Mike Monsoor's sacrifice.

peace,

You're right, there are not enough words to honor this man... :(

Anyone want to think about burning a flag now...?

This man gave his life to save his teammates.   To me this is the greatest sacrifice anyone can make.  May he rest in peace.   He deserves the award of the Medal of Honor.
