.... And yes, I told my boss that and asked for a pay cut, but the company won't allow it.

You don't need to hold out hope that they will honor your request for less where you work; just go get a lower pay job elsewhere.

Though with credit card debt and student loans as you describe, I don't understand the desire to get to zero so fast...

peace,
Griff

P:

Asked for a pay cut? Pxavier, life is not meant to be lived to become part of the lowest common
denominator. If you want to make a difference in this world become someone others can emulate.
You can't change unfortunate peoples lives by handing them money. They need inspiration,
motivation, and the message that they were graced by God to have been born in a country
where their opportunities are unlimited. Get rid of this victim mentality.

I don't feel like a victim.  I'm fortunate because I have a roof over my head, food in my stomach, a company that gives me a lot of freedom, as well as a laptop I can take home, and they're paying for me to go back to school.  I just realize that the money they give me doesn't equal the work I do.  Again, some may say that I deserve more compensation, but I don't feel that way because I have what I need and a little more.  Seriously my job sounds really cool and important, but it's just a job.  I felt the same way when I was in the military and people tried to give me military discounts.  At the time I was rude and laughed at them and refused, but now I know that they were just trying to be polite.

I'm not trying to get to zero, I'm trying to get the correct wages for the work I do.

A very capatalistic statement.

Well, I'm trying to make myself feel comfortable in a system I don't.  Again remember that I said I feel a 200k salary cap was appropriate.  I don't think that I'm worth what I make, and before you ask, I didn't negotiate my wage.  I took what they gave me because during the interview it sounded like I would do more.

The government is doing a great job protecting the wealthiest from taxes, protecting foreign investments, bailing out Wall Street & handing out corporate welfare.

If it is accurate that the top 50% if wage earners pay 96% of ALL taxes, how are they being protected?
Doesn't that translate into the bottom 50% paying little or no taxes?
If that's the case how do they(the bottom 50%) qualify for a refund?

Just wait till the tax cuts go away......from the WSJ:

Why this large tax increase? The tax code changes enacted in 2001 and 2003 are scheduled to expire at the end of 2010. If they do, statutory marginal tax rates will rise across the board; ranging from a 13% increase for the highest income households to a 50% increase in tax rates faced by lower-income households. The marriage penalty will be reimposed and the child credit cut by $500 per child. The long-term capital gains tax rate will rise by one-third (to 20% from 15%) and the top tax rate on dividends will nearly triple (to 39.6% from 15%). The estate tax will roar back from extinction at the same time, with a top rate of 55% and an exempt amount of only $600,000. Finally, the Alternative Minimum Tax will reach far deeper into the middle class, ensnaring 25 million tax filers in its web.

NOT a Ponzi scheme... A ponzi never sells product. It's a multi-level sales and marketing organization.

I don't sell Amway, however I use it's products.

Sorry, Social Security is an example of a ponzi scheme.

The Devos' family built a sucessful global business selling products for a profit.

How many jobs has Granholm created in her tenure? ZERO.

Governors don't create jobs, businesses do.

Oh, and yes I would rather have a sucessful businessman running the State than an unemployed socialist lawyer.

I also use Amway products and there are several lines of great products, ordered on-line and delivered right to my front door.
