Another example would be the Great Lakes Report, which our own government withheld & since released, you can find info on that in Politics & Government "Secret Great Lakes Study Probed."

Thank you for responding Zard :)
No we shouldn't abandon science! I think science is very important, that is why I want to see it kept legitimate!

That could only be a government fault there and not the first time the government has lied or withheld something from the public...I'm more worried about the government screwing me over than the lab rats...LOL

Since you mentioned athiesm, yes I do mean men like Richard Dawkins, but that's not all! I think you'll find some industries perverting science for profit. It's all well and good when the science goes along with their agenda, but if it doesn't, all of the sudden the science isn't definitive or it is surpressed.

Why don't you give it a rest and take a look @ your own misuse of science. :)

Your kidding! People use knowledge for their own personal gain!?

It's only been happening for all of human history. I am sure you have knowledge that you do not share that creates a direct benefit to you.. For example, your person information that can be used to get a credit card, a job skill that nobody in your work possesses that makes you valuable to the company you work for, a secret that if shared would ruin a friendship, etc.

The reason you think some information is misused is your moral values. Moral values are relative. What is moral to a large company may not be moral to you.

I think there is a difference between morality and reporting the facts to the FDA or other regulatory agencies. It is not a matter of morals it is a matter of law.
And in science, it is a matter of principle.

No, it's a matter of perspective. Just because something is moral to one person doesn't make it moral to another. A woman wearing shorts and a t-shirt here is morally OK. Wearing the same thing in a country that is an Islamic state is not only immoral, it is against the law.

I am not saying I think changing the outcome of a scientific study is OK. I am saying not everyone will agree with me.

I guess I just think business and government should be held to high standards. When they stop doing their jobs and start infringing on the rights of Americans, they need their power checked and balanced.

Since this is a democracy, we should just be able to vote them out. We all know how well that works.
