Performance enhancing drugs...
« on: April 12, 2008, 04:09:47 PM »

With all the issues of athletes using performance enhancing drugs, do you think they should be allowed or no?  Why or why not?

The long ball. How much easier can we make it for these so called great players nowadays? I mean the pitchers basically have to throw the ball right down the middle for a strike, so the hitter can just dig in like batting practice of years past. The stadiums dimensions are also a lot shorter. These hitters today have not earned their stats. They have been coddled and the stats are inflated.
Please.....Babe Ruth used a bat the size of a tree. Ty Cobb always slid spikes up (nasty player). Ever heard of "Eight Men Out"? Yeah there was scandal back then too. And I guarantee a 450-500 ft blast would be out of any ballpark. This BS of 'the game just isn't the same' anymore is just that...BS.

I find it ridiculous that we ask the most out of these athletes: Hit it farther, run faster, throw harder. Then we question the way in which they provide it. Just remember.........it never was a problem until we made it one!

just play the effin game how its suppose to be played...and if that means with your spikes in the air so be it. the strike zone is one of the biggest problems.

Nosh...I'm not necessarily saying everyone asks for that, but let's face the fact that most do.

Case in point. Were people excited to see Dontrelle Willis come to Detroit or ws it Miguel Cabrera?

When was the last time you heard someone saying "What a great Pitcher's duel that was". (Besides an analyst on Sportcenter. People go to games to see Offense.

I agree the strike zone is a big issue.  Its amazing that one pitch is called a strike and a few throws later its a ball.  I try to just think ok we are looking at it from a different angle.  But these players pretty much can tell a good throw from a bad one.

Once in a while an announcer will show the "blue strike zone outline" and show where pitches went - I'd like to see that a bit more often.

I used to take sudafeds before I skated... Opened the sinuses and gave me energy...

Of course, it has since become a banned substance but it really worked...

Then I found the Epedrine stuff... I took it until it killed large NFL players.... No more for me...  Also banned now.

i wont argue with you about any of that!!

its just enough is enough...just like bowling in the city of monroe...its gotten out of hand. 300 games are a dime a dozen now. it all just detracts from how the game should be.

I agree there too Nosh. But it is not just Monroe. Bowling has gone out of control. You know how much 300 games mean to me.... I have 4 rings and can't tell you where any of them are.
